Trusts & Estates Associate

A reputable Chicago law firm is seeking a Litigation Associate to join its growing team. This position is ideal for attorneys from first‑year through approximately five years of experience who are interested in developing a specialty in trust, estate, and fiduciary litigation.

Prior trusts or estates experience is not required, only strong litigation skills and a willingness to learn. The role offers hands‑on work, substantive responsibility, and exceptional mentorship.

• Draft pleadings, motions, memoranda, and other litigation documents
• Assist with discovery, including drafting written discovery, reviewing document productions, and preparing for depositions
• Conduct legal research to support case strategy and filings
• Participate in negotiations and settlement discussions
• Support senior attorneys across all phases of litigation
• Prepare for and attend court hearings
• Communicate with clients and help drive effective case outcomes
• Maintain organized and accurate case files and documentation

• Juris Doctor (JD) and active Illinois bar license
• Litigation experience (law firm experience preferred, but strong litigation internships/clinics will be considered for junior candidates)
• Strong writing, analytical, and research skills
• Familiarity with the Illinois Code of Civil Procedure is a plus
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
• Interest in developing expertise in trusts, estates, and fiduciary litigation
• Experience drafting motions and pleadings is helpful, but not required for junior candidates
