Develops sourcing strategy for specified spend categories to achieve key organizational and departmental goals related to cost savings, process improvement, standardization, waste reduction and other pertinent supply chain initiatives. Reviews and selects appropriate suppliers based on clinical input or industry awareness. Manages and acts as the main point of contract between primary vendors in designated categories and the hospital system. Develops and maintains collaborative internal relationships with clinical contacts and administrative staff within the healthcare system to ensure effective, results‑oriented project outcomes while maintaining or enhancing the quality of care provided to patients.

- Bachelor's Degree OR Associate’s Degree with at least two (2) years of equivalent professional experience.
- Stellar negotiation skills to pursue cost savings discussions with vendors and convince internal stakeholders of the optimal decision for the HCO.
- Strong analytical skills to share cost‑benefit analysis, scenario‑based savings options, industry benchmarking, and other decision points.
- Critical thinking skills to interpret qualitative and quantitative impacts of potential purchase activity.
- Experience with project management processes and ability to initiate and complete projects.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word skills and ability to learn new software programs.
- Independent and self‑motivated.
- Strong written and oral communication, interpersonal, organizational facilitation skills to engage a complex group of stakeholders in collaborative decision‑making.
- Continuous development of skills and knowledge through LEAP programs, readings, conferences, departmental training, or a combination thereof.
- Clear customer service focus at all times.
- Team mindset focused on improvement within the Rush system rather than competition with co‑workers.
- Efficiency in resource use and striving to use resources as efficiently as possible.
- Master's Degree.
- Fields of study include business, supply chain, or health care‑related specialty.
- Clinical experience and basic knowledge of medical‑surgical supplies, diagnostic testing, etc.
- Manage the relationship with primary vendors in designated categories.
- Leverage the relationship with GPO to ensure optimal connection to available contracts at best tier pricing.
- Negotiate independent local contracts where value can be added beyond GPO capacity or where GPO contract does not exist.
- Develop and maintain a contracting/bidding calendar for designated categories.
- Manage and execute RFP/RFQ process at contract expirations when industry and benchmark data show apparent savings opportunity.
- Review and negotiate terms and conditions to ensure that business terms are in the best interest of the hospital.
- Manage fully executed contracts and pricing with the internal supply chain team for electronic storage in the ERP system.
- Serve as liaison between hospital administration and clinical staff to ensure cost‑effective utilization of products, services and processes while maintaining or enhancing patient care quality.
- Monitor estimated and actual savings related to sourcing activities and value analysis projects.
- Lead Value Analysis Committee meetings related to designated sourcing categories, coordinating monthly or ad‑hoc meetings between supply chain operations, revenue cycle, nursing, and physicians.
- Coordinate product in‑servicing or training as needed for new product implementations or conversions.
- Participate as a member or ad‑hoc member of hospital committees or sub‑committees representing administration.
- Leverage third‑party consultants and software access to enhance negotiating ability.
