An exciting new opportunity has become available with Europ Tec USA, LLC, a U.S. glass fabricator with a long history supplying glass to the appliance market under its previous names of Marsco Manufacturing and Engineered Glass Products. Due to an acquisition in 2022, Europ Tec USA now has the resources and backing of the Glas Trösch Group, a family-owned glass company based in Switzerland with $2BN in revenue and 6000 employees worldwide.
With two manufacturing facilities and a warehouse on the south side of Chicago, Europ Tec USA provides a wide variety of products for the appliance (oven doors and microwave ovens) and lighting markets. It is now poised to leverage its relationship with Glas Trösch to enter the rail market by providing glass and frame assemblies.
- Manages and coordinates activities of buyers and support staff engaged in purchasing and distributing raw materials, equipment, machinery, and supplies in industrial plant, public utility, or other organization.
- Execute negotiations with current suppliers to reach savings and/or improvement in the products / services.
- Works with engineering and quality in the development of new products, parts, components and tools with the current and new suppliers.
- Establishes purchasing policies and procedures and directs purchasing programs accordingly.
- Establishes procedures to accomplish procurement of a variety of materials in a cost-effective manner.
- Prepares and assigns purchase orders and change notices to buyers.
- Analyzes market and delivery conditions to determine present and future material availability and prepares market analysis reports.
- Keeps informed of economic, industrial and other trends that affect markets, prices, and delivery conditions.
- Reviews and monitors requisitions, supply sources, supplies, quotations, terms, etc.
- Recommends major purchases of materials on the basis of anticipated changes in prices or on unusual availability situations.
- Reviews purchase order claims and contracts for conformance to company policy.
- Participates in contract negotiations and vendor selection.
- Monitors performance and capabilities of vendors to ensure maintenance of delivery, quality, and price commitments.
- Develops and installs clerical and office procedures and practices, and studies work flow, sequence of operations, and office arrangement to determine expediency of installing new or improved office machines.
- Arranges for disposal of surplus materials.
- Hires, trains new staff members, and supervises and evaluates job performance of purchasing department personnel.
- Acts as a liaison in dealings between vendors and user departments when necessary.
- May perform duties of Buyer.
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, logistics or related field
- 3-5 years hands‑on experience in procurement/supply chain; experience negotiating contracts and managing vendors
- Manufacturing experience highly desirable.
- ERP system (), MS Office, and cost analysis tools highly desirable
- Masters’ degree in supply chain, business or MBA preferred.
We are looking for someone who is comfortable working both independently and as part of a team. They need to have strong analytical skills, good communication, and experience interpreting contracts. They will be managing a team of 1 person – a buyer.
