Ocean Export Operator

Altius Talent is partnering with a well-established international freight forwarder in the Chicago area to recruit an experienced Ocean Export Operator.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing operations team, managing international Ocean Export shipments from booking through to final departure while working closely with customers, carriers and overseas offices.

• Manage the full Ocean Export process from A-Z
• Arrange bookings with ocean carriers and negotiate schedules where required
• Prepare and process export documentation including Bills of Lading, AES filings and commercial documentation
• Coordinate with trucking companies, warehouses, steamship lines and overseas agents
• Ensure shipments move in line with customer requirements and deadlines
• Provide proactive updates and exceptional customer service throughout the shipment lifecycle
• Resolve operational issues and maintain strong relationships with customers and suppliers
• Ensure compliance with all U.S. export regulations and company procedures
• Accurately update shipment milestones within the company's freight forwarding system

• 2+ years' experience within Ocean Export Freight Forwarding
• Strong understanding of international Ocean Export operations
• Experience handling export documentation and compliance requirements
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Ability to manage multiple shipments in a fast-paced environment
• Experience using Cargo Wise or another freight forwarding system is advantageous
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail

• Base salary up to $65,000
