Job Description

Temporary Full-Time Purchasing Coordinator – Chicago, IL (Temp-to-Hire)

Our client, a leading provider of electroless nickel plating solutions with over 120 years of industry experience, is seeking a Purchasing Coordinator to support its purchasing and supply chain operations. This position will be responsible for processing requisitions and purchase orders, maintaining vendor and purchasing records, coordinating with suppliers and internal departments, tracking deliveries, and helping ensure purchased products meet company quality and pricing requirements.

This is an on-site position ; i.e. NOT hybrid or remote.

Job Responsibilities
  • Prepare and process requisitions and POs for supplies and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate records of goods ordered and received.
  • Communicate and coordinate with vendors, manufacturers, and internal departments.
  • Maintain and update the database of approved vendors.
  • Build and maintain strong professional relationships with vendors and suppliers.
  • Track purchase orders and follow up to ensure timely delivery.
  • Compare and evaluate vendor offers, pricing, and product information.
  • Assist with negotiating contract terms, pricing, and purchasing agreements.
  • Review the quality of purchased products and address concerns as needed.
  • Accurately enter order details into internal databases and systems.
  • Maintain purchasing documentation and records
  • Complete required training and maintain applicable training records.
Job Requirements
  • Previous purchasing, procurement, supply chain, or related experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Strong computer skills and ability to learn new software and internal systems.
  • Comfortable using standard office equipment.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong documentation, data entry, and record-keeping skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with vendors, suppliers, and internal departments.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple orders, requests, and deadlines.
  • QMS experience & training (ISO 9000, ISO/TS 16949, AS 9100, TL 9000) preferred.
