Scale Operator

About the Role

You're the person who runs the gate. Trucks come in, trucks go out, vessels unload, and you're the one who keeps the count right, the paperwork clean, and every driver moving. If you've worked a scale, a shipping/receiving desk, or a yard office and you're ready for a role with more ownership and a real path forward, keep reading.

• You own the scale house. This isn't a seat on an assembly line. You're the face of the terminal and the person everyone checks in with.

• You'll learn skills that travel. We'll train you on SAP Business One, one of the most widely used business systems out there, and give you hands‑on exposure to accounts receivable and payable.

• You'll grow with the port. Grit One is a growing terminal operation. As it scales, so do the opportunities for the people who helped build it.

• Small team, big impact. You'll know everyone by name, and your ideas for doing things better will be heard.

• Weigh and process inbound and outbound trucks accurately using our scale system and SAP.

• Keep traffic moving: coordinate daily truck, vessel, and visitor flow and communicate it to the team.

• Process Bills of Lading and shipping documents so every load is accounted for.

• Own on‑site inventory accuracy: cycle counts, FIFO loading, and reconciling anything that doesn't match.

• Support site‑level AR and AP: purchase orders, invoice matching, and basic financial record‑keeping.

• Be a professional, welcoming point of contact for drivers, customers, vendors, and vessel crews.

• Follow safety procedures and set the example for everyone who comes through the gate.

• Pitch in on site operations when coverage is needed.

• Experience in scale operations, shipping and receiving, dispatch, logistics coordination, or a similar yard/office role.

• Sharp attention to detail with accurate data entry. You catch mistakes before they become problems.

• Comfortable with computers and learning new systems (Outlook, Excel, Teams). SAP or other ERP experience is a plus, but we'll train you.

• Clear, friendly communicator who can handle a busy gate.

• Able to work on‑site in an industrial/port environment.

• High school diploma or GED; valid driver's license.

• SAP, Net Suite, Epicor, or similar ERP experience

• Bulk materials background (salt, aggregates, grain)

• Port, maritime, or freight terminal experience

• Existing TWIC card

• Familiarity with BOLs and shipping documentation

• $26-29/hour based on experience
