Electric Vehicle Field Service Technician - Chicago, IL - Weekends

Join Orange EV as an Field Service Technician. Orange EV is a fast‑growing manufacturer of electric vehicles. This role is a regional Field Service Technician responsible for performing service activities for all local Orange EV vehicles, diagnosing and repairing issues, reviewing Remote Monitoring System data, recording service work, collaborating with customers, and providing support for sales and marketing efforts.

Pay: $28.00/hr - $33.30/hr

Shift: Friday - Monday; 4 to 10-hour shifts (Days)

Responsibilities
  • Understand vehicle systems at a systemic/component level to diagnose and repair efficiently.
  • Represent Orange EV professionally.
  • Use the Remote Monitoring System and Service Record‑Keeping System to determine service plans and prioritize customer needs.
  • Accurately record all service activity within the service record‑keeping system.
  • Communicate with customers and third‑party service providers to aid in diagnosis or issue escalation, promoting efficient repair scenarios.
  • Work with the site manager and electrician on logistics of charging infrastructure, including location, cost, and timing.
  • Evaluate conversion vehicle candidates and prepare thorough reports on their condition.
  • Support customer technicians and third‑party service providers with ancillary repairs.
  • Maintain a secure remote location for tools, parts, and other necessary items.
  • Deliver operator and maintenance training, as well as sales and business development support.
  • Travel as required for initial training and to meet service team goals and customer needs.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma; related technical degree preferred.
  • At least 1 year of experience in the automotive or electrical industries.
  • Intermediate to advanced experience with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Teams).
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing superior customer service.
  • Strong analytical problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to routinely lift up to 50 lbs at waist level and occasionally up to 75‑100 lbs.
  • Ability to squat, sit, lie under, or climb on a vehicle routinely.
  • Ability to handle multiple functions simultaneously and adapt to rapidly changing priorities and schedules.
  • Ability to set and prioritize goals, and achieve them according to a schedule.
  • Ability to execute and follow through on instructions given by the supervisor.
  • Excellent written communication skills, including clear composition, spelling, and punctuation.
