Under the direct supervision of the project manager, the position performs daily, weekly, and periodic cleaning of commercial, industrial, or office buildings. • Cleans, sweeps, and mops floors as required by cleaning schedule.
• Washes mirrors, stalls, walls, sinks, and baseboards as described in the cleaning contract.
• Vacuum, shampoo, and scrub carpets.
• Conducts periodic buffing, stripping, and waxing of floors.
• Cleans water fountains, telephone booths, and janitorial closets.

• High school diploma or general education equivalent.
• Six months of experience in janitorial/custodial field or completion of a janitorial/custodial training program.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to handle problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Able to write simple correspondence and present information one-on-one and in small group situations. Regularly required to talk or hear. Occasional requirement to sit.

Frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Must frequently lift or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts and outdoor weather conditions. The noise level is usually moderate to loud.
