Janitor-Temporary

This position is at Kennedy King College and offers an exciting opportunity within the largest community college system in Illinois, part of the nationally recognized Reinvention initiative.

• Dust all ledges, countertops, files, office equipment, desks, and walls.
• Dust mop all hard surfaces.
• Spot clean or wash walls, files, desktops, office glass, partitions, doors, chairs, blackboards, mirrors, waste baskets, garbage cans, office machines, and ash trays.
• Thoroughly clean bathroom fixtures and partitions.
• Polish furniture and metal surfaces.
• Hose and sweep sidewalks.
• Remove trash.
• Dismantle and clean light fixtures.
• Operate vacuum cleaners.
• Clean Venetian blinds (washing & vacuuming).
• Maintain facility and grounds inside and outside.
• Wash exterior walls.
• Scrape gum and other objects from surfaces and carpets.
• Perform spot cleaning of furniture or carpets (up to 2 hours per day).
• Set up and take down chairs and tables.
• Wet mop or spot mop corridors, washrooms, classrooms, and other hard surfaces.
• Operate compactors and balers.
• Maintain outside grounds (raking, grass cutting, watering, garbage).
• Adhere to CCC Customer Service Excellence standards.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Preference for current temporary janitors at City Colleges of Chicago.
• Ability to perform all listed duties.

Chicago residency required within 6 months for full-time employees.
