Job Overview
Voltguard Utilities Limited is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Electronic Technician to join our team. This remote, field-based position involves providing technical support, troubleshooting, and repair services across a range of client locations, vendor sites, and other facilities. The role requires an independent, detail-oriented technician with strong communication skills who can deliver high-quality service in diverse environments.
Key Responsibilities- Provide on‑site technical assistance, including installation, maintenance and repair of electronic systems and equipment.
- Travel frequently to client addresses, vendor facilities and other off‑site locations to address service requests and resolve technical issues.
- Diagnose and repair faults in electronic systems, including circuit boards, controllers and integrated systems.
- Perform system tests, calibrations and inspections to ensure optimal functionality and compliance with safety standards.
- Replace or repair defective components, ensuring all repairs meet manufacturer specifications and industry best practices.
- Install new electronic systems and equipment at client sites, ensuring correct setup and integration with existing infrastructure.
- Conduct system commissioning, including testing and verification to confirm that installations meet operational requirements.
- Perform regular preventive maintenance on client systems to ensure continued reliability and minimise unplanned downtime.
- Recommend and implement system upgrades or modifications to enhance performance and extend equipment lifespan.
- Serve as a key point of contact between Voltguard and its clients, providing professional and courteous customer service during all interactions.
- Coordinate with vendors and suppliers to facilitate the timely delivery of replacement parts, equipment and other resources required for repairs.
- Provide clients with detailed instructions and training on operating and maintaining their electronic systems.
- Share insights and best practices to enhance client understanding and promote optimal system use.
- Maintain accurate records of all service activities, including repairs, installations and maintenance visits.
- Prepare detailed service reports, including diagnostics, performed work and recommendations for future actions.
- Ensure all work is performed in compliance with industry standards, safety regulations and Voltguard internal guidelines.
- Stay current with industry advancements and best practices, integrating them into day‑to‑day operations.
- Proven experience as an Electronic Technician, with expertise in troubleshooting, repairing and maintaining electronic systems.
- Strong knowledge of electronic components, circuitry and system integration.
- Ability to work independently in remote locations with minimal supervision whilst managing service schedules and priorities.
- Excellent problem‑solving skills and the ability to analyse and resolve complex technical issues.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact effectively with clients, vendors and internal teams.
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Experience with field‑based or remote technical service positions.
- Familiarity with industry safety standards and protocols.
- The position requires frequent travel to various locations, including client sites, vendor addresses and other remote locations.
- Flexibility in scheduling, including occasional weekend or after‑hours work, may be necessary to meet client needs.
