The Door Division Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of the Division 8 door, frame, and hardware operation. This role requires a hands-on leader who can actively manage projects, support estimating and detailing, and drive accountability across the team. The ideal candidate has deep Division 8 experience, strong working knowledge of Comsense, and the ability to balance leadership with direct involvement in day-to-day execution.
This is not a desk-only management role. The successful candidate will be in the work, coaching the team, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring projects move efficiently from bid to closeout.
Key ResponsibilitiesOperational Leadership
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the door division including estimating, detailing, project management, procurement, and scheduling
- Serve as the point person for complex or high-risk projects
- Ensure consistent processes, standards, and documentation across all Division 8 projects
Hands-On Project Support
- Actively work in Comsense reviewing estimates, takeoffs, submittals, schedules, and change orders
- Step in as needed to support estimating, detailing, or project management during peak workload periods
- Assist with job setup, budgeting, cost tracking, and closeout
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop estimators, project managers, and detailers
- Set clear expectations, performance metrics, and accountability
- Participate in hiring, onboarding, and training of Division 8 staff
- Foster a culture of ownership, teamwork, and continuous improvement
Process & Systems
- Own Division 8 workflows within Comsense and related systems
- Identify inefficiencies and implement process improvements
- Ensure accurate job costing, forecasting, and reporting
- Maintain strong coordination between sales, operations, and accounting
Client & Vendor Coordination
- Support key client relationships and assist with issue resolution
- Coordinate with manufacturers, vendors, and suppliers to ensure timely material flow
- Handle escalations related to scope, schedule, or pricing
- 8+ years of Division 8 (Doors, Frames & Hardware) experience
- Prior leadership experience managing estimators, PMs, and/or detailers
- Strong hands-on experience using Comsense
- Background in estimating, project management, or detailing within DFH
- Strong understanding of commercial construction workflows and schedules
- Ability to lead while remaining actively involved in production work
- Experience managing a full Division 8 department or P&L
- Knowledge of healthcare, education, or large commercial projects
- Experience standardizing processes or scaling operations
- Strong communication skills with internal teams and external partners
- Leadership role with real influence on operations and team success
