Materials Manager | Chicago, IL (On Site)
Full-Time | $115,000–$120,000 base + 12% bonus (DOE)
Epitec is partnering with a Tier 1 automotive supplier that manages the complete suspension and overhead systems for OEMs such as GM, Ford, and Chrysler
. We’re seeking experienced professionals for a direct hire Materials Manager role based on site in Chicago, IL
.
Lead end‑to‑end materials planning, procurement, logistics, and inventory operations. You’ll manage a cross‑functional team, optimize materials flow, and ensure customer and production demands are met with accuracy and efficiency. This role is on‑site at our partner’s Chicago, IL facility and reports to the Plant Manager.
What You’ll Do- Lead, mentor, and develop a cross‑functional materials team
- Oversee materials planning, inventory control, transportation logistics, and supplier coordination
- Implement and maintain accurate materials management reporting systems
- Manage supplier performance and support program management activities
- Ensure timely procurement of production and service parts
- Monitor and optimize inventory levels, cycle counts, and PFEP data
- Drive continuous improvement and cost‑saving initiatives
- Maintain compliance with packaging requirements (e.g., CLIPS)
- Establish and track departmental KOIs
- Support packaging, freight, and routing strategies
- Perform additional responsibilities as needed
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management or related field; MBA preferred
- 5+ years of materials management experience in Bailed Material Operations
- 10+ years of progressive experience in Owned Material Operations
- Automotive manufacturing experience strongly preferred
- Skilled in Trans4M and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication abilities
- Certifications such as CPIM, CPM, or APP are a plus
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and lead in a fast‑paced environment
- Multilingual skills are beneficial
- Comfortable navigating office and plant environments
- Daily computer-based work
- Up to 10% travel required
- Valid driver’s license required
