AWC is hiring a full time Yard Supervisor for our Chicago NS location. This is located near 130th & Torrence. This will be a night shift position - 6pm-6am Wednesday-Saturday and this position comes with an AMAZING benefits package and great pay too! Please apply fast for this position!

The general pay range for this position is $60,000-$65,000. The successful candidate's actual pay will be based on various factors, such as qualifications, experience, internal equity, and market considerations.

Summary of Position:

The Yard Supervisor is responsible for organizing and scheduling staff and directing the day-to-day operations of all yard functions. This position is responsible for ensuring the safety, quality and production needs of our customer are meet through efficient productivity of the associates. This position coordinates activities of associates under the direction of the Terminal Manager or Operations Manager to ensure a well-coordinated productive operation.

Functions, Duties & Tasks:
  • Responsible for the daily scheduling of personnel in order to complete receipt/movement/storage and pre-delivery inspections of vehicles in a productive, cost efficient manner.
  • Assists in directing the facility's day-to-day activities.
  • Assists in overseeing yard management and movement of vehicles.
  • Ensures personnel have the support, tools and supplies needed for efficient operations.
  • Conducts audits and makes suggestions for corrective actions a needed.
  • Ensures new personnel receive the appropriate training.
  • Documents performance issues and coordinates all corrective actions with the Operations and/or Terminal Manager.
  • Ensures all AAR, Customer and AWC policies and procedures are followed.
  • Communicates daily with AWC associates, staff, managers, customers and vendors to determine staffing, supply and operational needs are met.
  • Responsible for the progressive disciplinary process in the areas of counseling, coachings, warnings and other corrective actions to ensure that a productive labor climate exists.
  • Responsible for enforcement and administration of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Responsible for enforcing safety practices in order to provide a safe, clean workplace for all associates and within the regulations of local, state, federal, OSHA and customer stanards.
  • Approve hourly associate work hours to ensure accurate weekly payroll.
  • Provides reports as requested for the customer.
  • Reports accidents and injuries on appropriate forms and communicate the procedure to all appropriate customer/vendors and AWC personnel.
  • Conducts accident investigations.
  • May interface with the customer to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Ensures that processes are in compliance with customer quality and safety requirements through daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly audits.
  • Propose and implements corrective actions as necessary.
  • Reacts to change productively and handles other essential tasks as assigned.
  • Manages the bargaining unit and is responsible for the accurate payment of wages through the time and attendance program.
  • Responsible for holding hourly associates accountable to the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
  • Responsible for coaching, mentoring and issuing disciplinary reprimands to the hourly associates in a timely manner.
  • May assist in the maintenance of equipment or company vehicles.
  • May assist with snow removal or other property maintenance issues.
