* Recommend/develop proactive strategies for continued process improvements and efficient resource utilization.
* Create strategic planning documents using excel and PowerPoint that outline multiyear capital spending in associated buildings.
* Coordination and reduction of major shared equipment service contracts/replacement/upkeep.
* May act as Building Manager in other BSD facilities in the absence of staff or other departmental need.
* Develop long-term strategic and short-term operating plans for the buildings in conjunction with the Executive Director of BSD Facilities, BSD Finance, and BSD leadership.
* Coordinate and manage service contracts with vendors, including but not limited to custodial services, rugs, growth chambers, cold rooms, autoclaves, etc.
* Work with University Facilities Services, UCM Physical Plant, and other departments to coordinate effective completion tasks and department wide initiatives.
* Regularly communicates with building occupants and leadership of any known or impeding service disruptions, projects, or related activities, etc. than may impact daily research activity and coordinate work accordingly.
* Coordinates effective delivery of custodial services, routinely monitors the completion and the quality of services.
* Routinely monitors environmental conditions and verifies proper operation of building systems and equipment.
* The responsibility of maintaining the research environment for investigators during renovations and coordinating contractor activities to minimize negative impacts on research.
* Day-to-day contact and oversight of renovations and building projects.
* Performs work as project manager for alterations and repairs as assigned.
* Manages and maintains building security.
* Coordinates University and Divisional safety and environmental compliance programs in buildings.
* Enforces policies and procedures to ensure the safety of all students, staff and faculty members.
* Reports violations of access policies and infractions of University/Divisional/Departmental security policies.
* Develop facilities maintenance policies and procedures. Plans for renovation and other facilities-related projects, including ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget. Receives requests for facilities services and supervise delivery of appropriate services.
* Monitors inspections of buildings, equipment and/or surrounding grounds for deficiencies and potential safety, health, or code problems. Reviews and authorizes written reports summarizing findings and recommends solutions.
* Manages movement of equipment and materials, maintains building security, and maintains information on building blueprints, space utilization data and equipment.
* Plans with staff from other units and reviews the work of contractors as well as facilities union and/or non-union staff.
* Works independently to create and proactively maintain partnerships with clients, internal and third party service providers and other partners.
* Uses specialized depth of knowledge in clients' business to collaborate with Facilities Services (FS) and increase the value they provide while minimizing the adverse impact FS projects may have on their activities and those of the entire University community.
* Proactively identifies substandard conditions and services; recommends and implements corrective actions.
* Interprets complex needs and gaps in service to collaborate with and recommend appropriate services to colleagues and vendors.
* Performs other related work as needed.
* Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Operations Management or similar degree.
* Advanced job-related education or designation programs, such as BOMI Institute, strongly preferred.
