Aboutthe Role
The Director of Operations role is designed for an analytically driven operations leader with advanced business training and a passion for scaling service‑based organizations. This role is based in our downtown Chicago office 4 days per week. You will be directly responsible for the financial and operational performance of a portfolio of approximately 40‑50 hospitals, partnering directly with a field team of multiple District Managers to achieve performance objectives.
You will work closely with the COO and operations leadership team to identify and develop hospital performance strategies and to drive consistent excellence in field‑level execution, leadership development, and operational outcomes. This role is ideal for someone who has completed a structured leadership development or operations training program (e.g., DaVita Redwoods, Optum Fellows, GE OMLP, McKinsey Operations, or similar) and is ready to step into a high‑impact field leadership position.
Impact
- Lead through leaders:
Coach and develop District Managers to drive consistent financial results, accountability, and operational engagement across their hospitals. - Drive performance:
Ensure hospitals meet or exceed goals for revenue, EBITDA, NPS, ARPA, and retention through disciplined, data‑driven operations. - Standardize excellence:
Implement systems, tools, and processes that scale and maintain operational consistency across all hospitals. - Cross‑functional alignment:
Partner with HR, Recruiting, Finance, and Medical Operations to support hiring, staffing, and business priorities. - Build culture and engagement:
Foster a culture of leadership, collaboration, and pride across all districts. - Continuous improvement:
Identify and implement process and efficiency improvements to strengthen scalability and performance.
- MBA or equivalent advanced business degree required.
- Completion of a recognized leadership or operations development program (e.g., DaVita Redwoods, GE OMLP, Optum Fellows, or similar) strongly preferred.
- 3–7 years of experience in healthcare, veterinary, or service‑based operations.
- Demonstrated ability to lead through others, analyze data, and deliver measurable results.
- Strong financial and analytical acumen, with comfort owning a large portfolio of distributed P&Ls.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem‑solving skills.
