The Captain at Benford Protection Group (BPG) is a senior operational leader responsible for directing the activities of Lieutenants and ensuring the accuracy, accountability, and consistency of security operations across assigned regions. A primary focus of this role is the review and oversight of daily shift reports, logbooks, and operational documentation to ensure information is recorded in full conformance with BPG policies, regulatory requirements, and professional standards.

In addition to documentation oversight, the Captain provides leadership in administrative, operational, and training functions, and assumes command responsibilities in the absence of the Executive Director, Operations or Assistant Director, Operations. This position requires advanced knowledge of daily security operations and BPG policies and procedures.

General Duties
  • Direct and oversee the work of assigned Lieutenants and ensure effective operational oversight across all assigned divisions.
  • Review daily shift reports, logbooks, and related documentation to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with BPG policies and regulatory standards.
  • Identify trends, deficiencies, or irregularities within reports and determine the need for follow-up, corrective action, or further investigation.
  • Ensure timely resolution and documentation of follow-up actions stemming from report reviews.
  • Coordinate scheduling, assignments, and deployment of supervisory personnel to maintain adequate staffing levels and operational effectiveness.
  • Orient and mentor new supervisory staff regarding reporting standards, documentation expectations, and operational responsibilities.
  • Assume command of departmental operations in the absence of the Director or Assistant Director, overseeing administrative, operational, training, and professional standards functions.
  • Interpret and apply company policies, procedures, and applicable laws or ordinances.
  • Review and evaluate personnel evaluations prepared by subordinate supervisors and provide guidance as needed.
  • Resolve escalated operational issues, employee concerns, and client-related complaints related to security activities or personnel.
  • Oversee security reporting processes and ensure the completion of accurate, comprehensive monthly operational and performance reports.
  • Review, critique, and approve incident and investigative reports; provide training and guidance in report writing and investigative techniques as needed.
  • Advise the Executive Director and Assistant Director of matters requiring attention or corrective action, including reporting deficiencies, staffing concerns, ongoing investigations, and inspection results.
  • Assign overtime and special details as necessary to ensure contractual and operational requirements are met.
  • Support leadership development and training initiatives for supervisory staff.
