Executive Chief Estimator opportunity

With a highly respected electrical contractor delivering complex commercial and industrial projects in Chicago, the electrical subsidiary of this $2.5BN business is growing rapidly, with a strong pipeline of major work and ambitious expansion plans. This is a unique opportunity for a executive leader to step up and put their stamp on the business, lead strategic pursuits, build and mentor a high-performing estimating team and play a key role in shaping the company’s next phase of growth.

Provide strategic direction and leadership to the estimating function, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented team culture.

Partner with senior management to identify growth opportunities, win new work, and strengthen relationships across clients, consultants, and industry stakeholders.

Direct the preparation and review of pricing submissions, tenders, and commercial proposals to ensure quality, accuracy, and market competitiveness.

Oversee cost planning activities, resource allocation, and estimating systems to support informed decision-making and operational effectiveness.

Develop and nurture long-term relationships with key customers, suppliers, and business partners.

Guide, mentor, and develop team members through performance management, coaching, and career development initiatives.

Implement and maintain departmental processes, reporting frameworks, and best practices to support consistent service delivery.

Promote adherence to organizational policies, ethical standards, and applicable industry regulations.

Contribute directly to project pricing and estimate preparation when required, including the evaluation of scope, documentation, and project requirements.

Chicago – Relocation Required (Support to be discussed).

Up to $250k Base + Bonus – (Depending on Experience TBD).

All Benefits included: 401(k) Plan with 50% match up to 3%; and Annual profit-sharing potential.

Relocation is a MUST for this position so please only apply if you are able to fully relocate – if you can’t you will not be considered as this is a non traveling role.

• 10+ years in construction, with experience as a Director, VP or Chief Estimator.
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (or equivalent experience).
• Electrical Background – MUST.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and estimating software.
• Strong knowledge of N.E.C. and local codes.
• Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
• Ability to read and interpret civil, architectural, structural, and mechanical plans and specifications.
• Collaborative leader who inspires teams and fosters growth.
• Accubid, Bluebeam and Procore knowledge/experience.
