Project Manager
Job Description
Join our team as a Project Manager where you will lead and collaborate on mission-critical, data center, and high-tech projects. You will model our core values of empathy, perseverance, and curiosity while building strong relationships with clients and project partners. In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to business development efforts and represent the company at various project gatherings.
Responsibilities
* Consistently model and reinforce core values through decision-making and execution.
* Manage and grow positive relationships with clients, data center operators, project partners, architects, engineers, commissioning agents, and owners.
* Participate in business development efforts for mission-critical, data center, and high-tech clients.
* Lead new business development opportunities, including lead generation and client pursuits.
* Build confidence in interviewing, presenting, and pitching to prospective clients and stakeholders.
* Represent the company at project kickoff, milestone, commissioning, turnover, and closeout gatherings.
* Maintain proactive and clear communication with project partners, prioritizing verbal communication.
* Manage project issues by presenting both problems and potential solutions to the Team Lead.
* Deliver performance feedback and contribute to formal reviews for direct reports.
* Delegate effectively, oversee workload balance, and provide support to junior staff.
* Provide mentorship, oversight, and support to Project Engineers and Project Coordinators.
* Participate in onboarding and training for new team members; present process improvement and best-practice trainings.
* Serve as the final point of accountability, ensuring all project requirements are completed accurately and to standard.
* Observe and manage the prime contract process.
* Participate in trade partner selection, interviews, awards, and buyouts, focusing on critical systems contractors and key equipment vendors.
* Participate in creation of Scopes of Work, Exhibit A documents, and Schedule of Values for Work Orders.
* Lead procurement planning and management for long-lead mission-critical equipment.
* Monitor project financial performance, oversee budgets, manage contingency, and ensure alignment with profit goals.
* Ensure timely delivery of accounting questionnaires, pencil draw submissions, and change order/claims approvals.
* Manage claims, financial reconciliation, commissioning closeout costs, and Day 2 work planning.
* Oversee job cost details and financial forecasting.
* Identify and mitigate project risks related to procurement, commissioning, and operational readiness.
* Manage multiple tasks and participate in initial project setup.
* Maintain comprehensive awareness of project milestones, equipment delivery schedules, and commissioning activities.
* Estimate projects with approval from the Team Lead and Preconstruction.
* Effectively manage multiple large-scale mission-critical projects concurrently.
* Coordinate closely with field leadership, commissioning agents, design consultants, and client teams.
* Lead management of RFIs, submittals, change orders, and turnover deliverables.
* Maintain strong understanding of project financial structure and mission-critical project delivery requirements.
Essential Skills
* Minimum of six (6) years of experience managing mission-critical, data center, high-tech, or complex MEP-intensive construction projects.
* Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, Project Management, or a related field preferred.
* Proficiency in project scheduling, procurement, scope development, contract review, financial oversight, risk management, and commissioning coordination.
* Experience managing large-scale MEP systems, critical infrastructure installations, equipment procurement, startup, and turnover activities.
* Strong understanding of mission-critical project delivery, commissioning processes, operational readiness, and turnover requirements.
* Ability to foster client retention, build strong relationships, and lead collaborative, high-performing teams.
* Exceptional people management skills with a team-centered leadership approach.

Job Type & Location
This is a Permanent position based out of Chicago, IL.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $180000.00/yr.
Travel Package:
