Job Summary

The Assurance Manager supervises, directs, and reviews the work of audit engagement teams, delegating tasks across planning, field work, and wrap‑up stages. The role includes marketing, networking, and business development, as well as ensuring engagement profitability through billings and collections. Responsibilities also involve advising clients on economic and regulatory risks, resolving complex accounting issues, applying GAAP/GAAS, writing technical memos, and assessing financial reporting control systems.

Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate control environments, policies, and procedures to mitigate risks and improve internal controls.
  • Validate and assess the effectiveness of internal control over financial reporting.
  • Communicate suggestions for control and accounting improvements to management and audit committees.
  • Supervise audit team work, review work papers, and provide on‑site training during field work.
  • Apply GAAP principles to client transactions, document and communicate findings, and advise on the impact of new accounting pronouncements.
  • Prepare complex financial statements, footnote disclosures, and related documentation.
  • Review SEC filings (MD&A, financial statements, disclosures) for completeness and accuracy; ensure quarterly reviews are performed.
  • Review and complete Section 404 internal control audit work, maintain checklists, and ensure independence compliance.
  • Apply GAAS and PCAOB standards, provide guidance, and communicate required matters to audit committees and governance.
  • Use efficiency tools such as statistical sampling and CAATS in audit procedures.
  • Conduct research projects, prepare memos, and present findings to review teams.
  • Initiate and prepare client acceptance/retention procedures.
  • Plan audit processes and oversee execution to meet quality, efficiency, and completion standards.
  • Manage supervision of associates and senior associates, provide performance feedback, career guidance, scheduling, and workload management.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Statistics (preferred).
  • Master’s degree in Accountancy (preferred).
  • Five (5) or more years of audit or related professional services experience (required).
  • Prior significant supervisory experience (required).
  • Industry expertise in one or more assurance specialties (preferred).
  • Active licensed U.S. CPA or recognized international equivalent (required).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and assurance applications (preferred).
Other Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Strong GAAP and GAAS knowledge.
  • Familiarity with SEC and PCAOB reporting rules.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong people‑development, delegation, and engagement‑scheduling skills.
  • Executive presence and ability to serve as primary client contact.
  • Client development and relationship‑building skills.
  • Sound decision‑making and complex accounting issue resolution.
  • Ability to handle business development, marketing, engagement profitability, billings, and collections.
Salary Ranges

California: $120,000 – $140,000
Ohio (Cleveland): $95,000 – $125,000
Colorado: $95,000 – $120,000
Illinois: $100,000 – $125,000
Maryland: $105,000 – $125,000
Massachusetts: $105,000 – $115,000
Minnesota: $95,000 – $110,000
New Jersey: $104,000 – $112,000
NYC/Long Island/Westchester: $110,000 – $150,000
Washington: $95,000 – $115,000
Washington DC: $105,000 – $128,000
