Our client for the Business Unit Vice President Americas opportunity is a fast growing specialty chemicals manufacturer and supplier serving a range of industries including but not limited to oil and gas, marine, mining, power generation, industrial processing and more. This Business Unit is part of an organization quickly growing to $1B in revenue and continues to grow organically and through acquisition.
The Business Unit Vice President will lead a rapidly growing business unit in charge of the full P&L. This includes a small production facility, sales, finance, HR, supply chain, logistics and procurement. The Business Unit Vice President will have a strong commercial background and track record and lead the business unit from a commercial and strategic perspective growing the business.
The Business Unit Vice President will report to the Divisional President and will contribute to larger global initiatives as well.
- Full P&L responsibility of the business unit for the Americas region
- Develop a strong understanding of the markets, customers, and products to drive strategic commercial decisions fueling growth
- Develop and implement the commercial strategy for the region in alignment with the overall group and global goals
- Provide overall strategic management, direction, and leadership of the division across all core functions
- Create and sustain an environment and culture that drives accelerated growth, profitability, and customer satisfaction
- Ensure strategic direction aligns with the overall segment being accountable for the overall performance of the division
- Lead all commercial activity and strategies including sales, business development, pricing, long term contracts, and high level negotiations
- Identify and secure new business with private industry and government agencies across the region
- Establish and implement an organizational structure in alignment with the strategic vision that supports the current organization and future state regarding customers, operations, commercial, etc.
- Work with global leadership teams and operations to drive operational improvements for best in class production and quality
- Assess current go to market strategy and partners to drive the best business outcomes and relationships with partners, distributors, and end users.
- Develop annual operating budget, forecasts, and leading quarterly and annual reviews
- Implement talent development, evaluation, and success planning activities with the HR Leadership team supporting current and future talent needs
- Develop, maintain, and nurture relationships with key stakeholders, customers, and other strategic partners
- Partner with R&D, Product Management and Product Development on development of new solutions
- Drive leadership team in a positive and collaborative approach focusing on a team based culture
- Think like an owner driving and maintaining a goal oriented, entrepreneurial environment with legacy business and new business
- Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Business or related
- MBA or Masters degree preferred
- 15 plus years of experience in industrial b2b manufacturing, preferrable with chemicals, lubricants or related products
- 3 years of experience in Sr. Leadership roles responsible for commercial operations and P&L management
- Strong financial acumen is required
- Proven background and experience driving business development securing high value contracts, with a sales and commercial background
- Strong commercial acumen and creative thinker to identify new markets and applications
- Strategic thinker and able to look at business with a fresh perspective
Ability to work with all levels of management and team members internal and external - Must have experience working for a global company working with different cultures
- Business minded and strong teamwork
- Strong communication skills, time management skills, and a customer focused mindset.
- Fluent in English is required, fluent in Spanish is highly valuable
- Strong work ethic and high attention to detail
- Ability to travel 50% across the Americas region
Competitive base salary - $200,000 - $225,000 depending on experience, annual bonus, stock options, full benefits, 401K and match, vacation, holidays. Highly visible role is a growing publicly traded company that growing organically and through M&A.
