About the Role

Airfreight Supervisor – Healthcare

The Airfreight Supervisor will oversee product team operations in a healthcare environment, ensuring product compliance, quality outcomes, revenue growth, and operational efficiency with a focus on productivity and quality.

Compensation

Base salary range: $85,000.00 to $. Additionally, eligible for health and welfare programs, a 401(k) retirement savings plan, tuition assistance, and incentive compensation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Serve as liaison between clients, vendors, and government agencies.
  • Proactively seek feedback from team members and customers to enhance service levels, productivity, and profitability.
  • Act as senior product subject‑matter expert.
  • Analyze service failures across multiple departments, escalating and ensuring timely resolution and preventive measures.
  • Assign tasks to internal departments based on request nature.
  • Confirm shipment‑level profitability and address any loss‑making or low margin files.
  • Control commercial documentation for export/import declarations and regulatory agencies (AES, DPS, Hazmat, AMS).
  • Monitor file profitability and proactively alert product and sales management for pricing adjustments.
  • Oversee accounts payable issue resolution within area of responsibility.
  • Provide objective feedback on vendor performance and coordinate timely issue resolution.
  • Oversee export compliance including denied‑party screening and AES filing.
  • Resolve external billing disputes and collections, ensuring timely resolution.
  • Measure, analyze, and improve internal/external KPIs for area of responsibility.
  • Validate product staff understanding of and compliance with customer and company SOPs.
  • Manage staffing levels based on business development, peak volume periods, performance metrics, and employee vacations.
  • Assist management with talent acquisition, re‑assignment, demotion, and promotion decisions.
  • Conduct regular employee performance review meetings and set performance goals.
  • Ensure all assigned employees are trained, certified, and re‑certified periodically.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities

This position supervises employees and may supervise temporary employees on projects.

Qualifications
  • Associate’s degree (A.A.) from a two‑year college or Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent education and experience.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum five years of experience in the airfreight export role.
  • Two years of prior supervisory experience preferred.
  • Completion of any industry related course is an asset.
  • Strong organizational, time‑management, and prioritization skills.
  • Customer‑focused mindset, adaptable and flexible to high‑pressure environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), email, and internet.
  • Proficiency in world geography, shipping documentation, and Incoterms preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Ability to calculate freight rates, discounts, and related percentages.
  • Analytical and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Leadership skills with ability to train, coach, and develop subordinates.
Physical Demands
  • Frequently required to stand and walk.
  • Regularly required to sit for extended periods.
  • Regularly requires reaching and using hands/fingers for computer and phone use.
  • Requires speaking clearly and listening for heavy phone contact.
  • Requires close‑up and computer screen distance vision.
