Annual Starting Salary: $89,112

This is a senior manager position responsible for overseeing the Department of Environments planning, execution and regulatory compliance of environmental remediation initiatives to best serve the department and City’s goals to advance the climate and environmental priorities of the City of Chicago. The work is collaborative intra-departmentally, inter-departmentally, and with external stakeholders, and performs other related duties as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES
  • Leads the development, implementation and monitoring of brownfield redevelopment procedures.
  • Ensures that plans and strategies, align with citywide sustainability, redevelopment and environmental justice goals and targets.
  • Manages a portfolio of brownfield-related projects and data management.
  • Collaborates with internal departments, sister-agencies, community organizations, government agencies, non-profits, and businesses to ensure effective coordination on brownfield remediation projects and grant applications.
  • Manage project budgets, track expenditures, manage contracts and ensure resources are allocated effectively to achieve project goals.
  • Develop project timelines, set milestones, and regularly monitor progress to ensure projects are on track for timely completion.
  • Manage complex environmental projects including but not limited to state and federal brownfield remediation and NEPA programs.
  • Prepares regular progress reports and serves a liaison for internal stakeholders, city officials, and external partners, including federal, state and local regulatory agencies.
  • Communicates project updates and outcomes through oral and written presentations, reports, and public forums; staying informed about local, state and federal environmental policies and regulations.
  • Represents the department in cross functional partnerships.

THIS POSITION IS EXEMPT FROM THE CAREER SERVICE

Qualifications

Nine (9) years of work experience in project management or program coordination
.

OR

Graduation from an accredited college with an Associate’s degree PLUS seven (7) years of project management or program coordination work experience.

OR

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree PLUS five (5) years of project management or program coordination work experience.

OR

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master’s degree or higher PLUS four (4) years of project management or program coordination work experience.


* Licensure, Certification, or Other Qualifications*

  • Project Management Professional (
    PMP
    ) or other project management certifications preferred
