This high‑profile leadership position is part of the Water / Wastewater business leadership team and the Upper Mid‑West collaborative group. The Area Director will manage the successful delivery of multi‑million‑dollar water‑related infrastructure projects.
Responsibilities- Lead business management with a focus on client relationship development, positioning within target organizations, pursuit team leadership, and financial management of both top‑line and bottom‑line growth. Develop water and wastewater engineering capture strategies that leverage global resources or multiple partners, ensure project performance, achieve new business objectives, and support complex contract negotiations with appropriate risk management.
- Travel up to 60% of the work schedule. During travel weeks professionals may work in an office or remote location on non‑travel days. On non‑travel weeks, work may include three days in a BV office and two days remote.
- Business development: lead marketing and strategy development, prospect identification, proposal preparation, client presentations, project budgeting, and contract negotiations to achieve new business objectives.
- Project management: engage with assigned clients, participate in client activities, promote the company through client and community interactions, and develop market business plans and engagement strategies.
- Project execution: oversee engineering managers, develop project performance goals, ensure implementation, actively participate with internal teams and owner project representatives, and manage commercial activities including budgeting, invoicing, payments, and project performance reviews.
- Staff management: develop, mentor, and coach team members, recommend training and promotion, and develop new candidates to expand the team.
- 15+ years of active water/wastewater experience with demonstrated leadership in the Central region market.
- Professional Engineering License and a bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline.
- Strong understanding of budgets and financial metrics.
- Contract negotiation skills, including knowledge of terms, risks, pricing, and payment terms.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Ability to complete pre‑employment onboarding requirements (background check, drug screen, motor vehicle record search).

Salary Plan: PMT – Project Management. Job Grade: 022.
