The VP, Procurement will manage a large portfolio of activities, including but not limited to, day-to-day contracting activities such as the monitoring of contract performance, the development, evaluation and management of vendor relationships, the negotiating of contracts, the building of relationships with clinical and operational stakeholders, company fleet program, real estate and facilities, and managed print programs. This role collaborates across teams to determine prioritization and allocation of resources for maximum business outcomes.

In this role you are accountable for enterprise supplier performance, strategic sourcing initiatives, and supplier governance. The incumbent will manage the team ensuring supplier performance with regards to Quality, Cost and Delivery by developing appropriate metrics as needed. Develop strong relationships with stakeholders and become a trusted partner to help achieve business goals and resolve issues through escalations/negotiations.

Job Requirements

Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant professional experience will be considered.
Experience:
  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in procurement, strategic sourcing, or related fields.
  • At least 10 years of leadership experience managing procurement teams and strategic initiatives.
  • Proven experience negotiating and managing enterprise-level supplier contracts across categories such as technology, business-to-business (B2B) services, consulting, and other strategic spend areas.
Certification/Licensure:
  • Not required.
  • Proven ability to lead, develop, and motivate high-performing teams while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
  • Exceptional communication, presentation, negotiation, and influencing skills with the ability to establish trusted partnerships with executive leadership, business teams, suppliers, and external stakeholders.
  • Strong strategic mindset with demonstrated business and financial acumen to align procurement strategies with organizational goals and maximize enterprise value.
  • Extensive knowledge of strategic sourcing, contract negotiations, supplier relationship management, category management, and procurement best practices.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with the ability to use data analytics, market intelligence, benchmarking, and spend analysis to drive informed decisions.
  • Demonstrated success identifying and delivering cost savings, cost avoidance, process improvements, and operational efficiencies across multiple business areas.
  • Experience leading procurement transformation initiatives, process improvements, and implementation of scalable operational and technology solutions.
  • Ability to manage organizational change, influence without direct authority, build consensus, and drive alignment across diverse stakeholder groups.
  • Strong project and program management skills with the ability to manage multiple strategic initiatives in a complex, fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal customers, suppliers, and business partners while effectively managing escalations and complex negotiations.
  • Knowledge of healthcare operations, healthcare procurement practices, regulatory requirements, and Group Purchasing Organizations (GPOs).
  • Demonstrates integrity, professional judgment, ethical decision-making, and a commitment to responsible business practices.
  • Reliable transportation required; travel may be required as business needs arise.

  • Align procurement strategies and activities with the organization’s vision, mission, strategic priorities, and executive leadership objectives while supporting operational excellence and quality outcomes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business needs, evaluate processes, identify opportunities, and develop effective procurement solutions.
  • Drive standardization of procurement practices, policies, and processes across the organization to improve efficiency and consistency.
  • Lead and develop the procurement team through talent development, succession planning, performance management, coaching, and achievement of departmental goals.
  • Partner with business leaders and cross-functional teams to execute strategic initiatives, manage risks, resolve challenges, and deliver successful project outcomes.
  • Develop executive-level presentations and recommendations that clearly communicate project status, strategic opportunities, business impact, and proposed solutions.
  • Establish and maintain procurement policies, governance frameworks, standards, and controls to ensure compliant and effective sourcing practices.
  • Develop and execute enterprise-wide contract strategies by analyzing market trends, identifying sourcing opportunities, and optimizing supplier partnerships.
