Service Center Manager
In-Office, Chicago, IL (Joliet). Salary: $85,500-$120,000.
Job SummaryThe Service Center Manager collaborates with maintenance and equipment cleaning functions, manages assigned personnel, and oversees independent contractor relations. The role is responsible for achieving Service Center revenue budget goals, continuously improving services, ensuring efficient operation of the Service Center and equipment, proper staffing and equipment utilization, and full compliance with all applicable regulations and company policies.
Key Responsibilities- Lead, direct, and oversee employees in the service center.
- Manage the hiring process for office and driver staffing.
- Measure, set, and drive company KPI’s (Key Performance Indicators).
- Monitor and meet profit and loss goals.
- Provide training and development for drivers and operations staff.
- Create a safe and efficient working environment for employees.
- Communicate timely and effectively with internal and external customers.
- Direct service center transportation activities to maintain efficiency, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
- Monitor operational metrics and ensure compliance with local, federal, and state regulations.
- Align operations with company policies and procedures.
- Collaborate with safety and HR departments on compliance and disciplinary matters.
- Advocate and maintain a commitment to safety.
- Work jointly with Maintenance and Equipment Cleaning functions and third‑party vendors.
- Perform all other duties as specified.
- 3+ years of supervisory experience required; 5+ years preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalency required;
Bachelor’s degree preferred. - Transportation, maintenance, and/or equipment cleaning experience preferred.
- Tenure and experience at Highway Transport may be considered in lieu of position requirements.
- Valid driver’s license and personal liability insurance coverage meeting or exceeding legal state minimums.
- Ability to delegate and direct work to personnel.
- Excellent communication with all employees, direct or indirect.
- Effective communication with customers and independent contractors.
- Effective management of employee relations.
- Excellent customer service.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Sound independent judgment and problem solving.
Occasional travel as needed. Majority of time in an office environment. After hours and weekend work as needed.
