JOB ANNOUNCEMENT SUPERVISOR OF FAMILY SUPPORT PROGRAMS DEPARTMENT OF FAMILY AND SUPPORT SERVICES Senior Services Number of Positions: 1 (additional vacancies possible pending budget approval) Starting Salary: $85,548 Applications for this position will be accepted until 11:59pm on 08/30/2026 Under general supervision, functions as a mid-level manager responsible for overseeing supervisory staff, program coordinators, and/or other professional-level program staff responsible for the planning, implementation, and evaluation of various social service programs to address the needs of varied demographic groups.

Essential duties include directing day-to-day senior center operations to ensure program goals and objectives are met, planning and managing work schedules to ensure adequate coverage of senior center programming and other activities, monitoring and providing technical assistance and direction to staff, contracted agencies and other program partners, convening, coordinating, and facilitating meetings and other communications with staff, contracted agencies, and other partners, compiling program reports, including monthly reports from contracted agencies, identifying trends, and ensuring efficient and effective program delivery, coordinating and implementing appropriate on-going training for staff, working with staff to generate needed reports for site operations, conducting outreach, convening meetings, and engaging social service agencies, organizations, and community groups.

9:00am – 5:00pm This position is exempt from the career service.

Qualifications

Minimum qualifications include graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in the Social Sciences, Education, Human Services, Gerontology, Psychology, Public Health, or a directly related field PLUS, four (4) years of experience in the planning and administration of a social or community service program, of which one (1) year is in a management/supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position, OR graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's Degree or higher in the Social Sciences, Education, Human Services, Gerontology, Psychology, Public Health, or a directly related field PLUS, three (3) years of experience in the planning and administration of a social or community service program, of which one (1) year is in a management/supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position, OR graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate's Degree in the Social Sciences, Education, Human Services, Gerontology, Psychology, Public Health, or a directly related field PLUS, six (6) years of experience in the planning and administration of a social or community service program, of which one (1) year is in a management/supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position, OR eight (8) years of work experience in the planning and administration of a social or community service program, of which one (1) year is in a management/supervisory role related to the responsibilities of the position.

Selection requirements include an interview. Preference will be given to candidates possessing previous experience working in a senior center or similar community-based setting and developing, coordinating, and delivering programs for older adults, previous experience working with the diverse needs and interests of seniors and facilitating engaging recreational, educational, social, health and wellness, and supportive-service activities, previous experience providing technical assistance to delegate agencies, volunteers, vendors and team members, prior experience building community partnerships, encouraging participant engagement, and maintaining a welcoming and safe environment for program participants, previous experience managing Social Services programs with an emphasis on Senior Services or the aging population, previous supervisory or leadership experience in a senior center or similar community center setting, and previous experience building community partnerships, encouraging participant engagement, and maintaining a welcoming, inclusive, and safe environment for older adults or program participants.
