Job Summary

The position will lead short- and long-range development activities on behalf of the Quinlan School of Business ( QSB ). It will manage a team responsible for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors for major, planned, and leadership annual gifts in support of the school. They will align and integrate unit-based efforts with the LUC Office of University Advancement’s priorities and collaborate with QSB’s academic leadership to seek philanthropic support for their education and research missions.

Responsibilities
  • personally manage a portfolio of major and principal gift prospects, be responsible for securing a requisite volume of major gifts from those individuals, and oversee their stewardship
  • ensure the long-term sustainable growth of that portfolio through data- and relationship-driven qualification efforts
  • support volunteer leadership groups for QSB , with particular focus on the Dean’s Board of Advisers
  • together with their team, collaborate with colleagues across University Advancement to drive key performance indicators relating to the year-over-year growth of fundraising progress for QSB .

The Managing Director will nurture a culture of commitment to data integrity, lead in observing division-wide processes established to enhance efficiency and effectiveness across functions, and perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and/or Work Experience
  • 7-10 years of significant development leadership experience, preferably in higher education or another major cultural, healthcare, or civic setting. Proven quantifiable track record of personally developing, soliciting, and closing seven-figure gifts is required.
  • Demonstration of 3-5 years of tenure and longevity at previous employers is required, a history of promotions within organizations is preferred.
  • A bachelor’s degree is required. A master’s degree is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience building, managing, and holding teams of gift officers accountable.
  • Possess excellent knowledge of the principles of fundraising; demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of principal and major gifts; annual giving; corporate/foundation relations; prospect management; budget oversight; and excellent interpersonal communications and team-building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to formulate strategic plans, implement programs, and evaluate the success of these initiatives. Demonstrated ability to effectively staff the President/ CEO , Trustees, or other executive leadership in executing major gift strategies.
  • Clear understanding of and appreciation for the mission, goals, and objectives of private higher education and Loyola University Chicago.
  • Direct experience in a complex institution with multiple academic units will be extremely advantageous.
  • A proven commitment to diversity and demonstrated success in recruiting, retaining, and building a diverse development team.
