Manager Of Emergency Management Services

Under direction, manages City-wide emergency management planning and coordination programs and activities in the areas of preparedness, mitigation, response, and recovery, and performs related duties as required.

Essential duties include supervising emergency management staff, overseeing the development and implementation of operating procedures, activating response plans, overseeing recovery efforts, managing emergency planning projects, conducting research, preparing management reports, overseeing staff performing threat and vulnerability assessments, and preparing related reports regarding costs associated with emergency management response plans.

Additional duties include drafting public informational materials, conducting public education presentations, and providing direction and guidance to lower-level emergency management coordinators.

Planning & Preparedness - Citywide Operations Address: 1411 West Madison Street Shift/Watch: 1st Watch: 10:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. OR 2nd Watch: 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. OR 3rd Watch: 2:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Shift assigned based on seniority order (according to the CBA) Candidate may be ON CALL Days Off:
Saturday and Sunday
* May be required to work weekends and/or Holidays This position is not career service.

Minimum qualifications include at least eight (8) years of experience in project management or emergency management; or graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate's degree in Public Safety Management, Public Administration, or a directly related field PLUS at least six (6) years of experience in project management or emergency management; or graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Public Safety Management, Public Administration, or a directly related field PLUS at least four (4) years of experience in project management or emergency management;

or graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree in Public Safety Management, Public Administration, or a directly related field PLUS at least three (3) years of experience in project management or emergency management. A valid State of Illinois driver's license is required.
