Summary

The Cell Therapy Institute (CTI) is a free-standing multi-disciplinary clinical and research center within the Oncology Service Line. The Institute will employ faculty and staff from the Division of Hematology, Oncology, and Cell Therapy, Section of Bone Marrow and Stem Cell Transplant. The institute conducts cell collection, cell manufacturing, cell receiving and storage, clinical management of patient’s peri-cell infusion, and performs clinical trials.

CTI envisions to perform basic and translational research, including manufacturing cells in the future. The director work with director of apheresis and cellular processing laboratory director in these activities. The director, CTI Operations will be responsible for overall fiscal and personnel management of the CTI and all its components, including clinical trials and grants management. Director will oversee the design, development, and implementation of uniform, system-wide policies and procedures necessary to meet the goals and mission of the CTI.

Required Job Qualifications
  • Master’s degree required.
  • At least five years of Bone Marrow Transplant experience required.
  • At least two years of prior management experience required.
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to lead projects to completion.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team and actively promote team building.
  • Demonstrate ability to work effectively with a diverse group of people including faculty and staff.
  • Proficient with the Microsoft Office Suite.
Responsibilities
  • Creates departmental budget workbooks for CTI activities and multiple Accounting Units. Maintains the CTI budget, fund reports, payroll reports, and run rate variance reports.
  • Responsible for revenue and expense management of CTI; partnering with revenue cycle & service line leadership.
  • Responsible for all pre-award and post-award management of the grant award portfolio.
  • Responsible for CTI compliance to corporate finance accounting policy and procedures and policies of the NIH and other funding agencies.
  • Participates in strategic planning and long-range financial projections with the BMT/Cell Therapy Section Director if this position is occupied by another individual.
  • Identifies and implements areas for operational improvement.
  • Provides continuous guidance and support to all the various areas within the Institute by interfacing with Physicians, Principal Investigators, lab personnel, study Managers, data management, and biostatistical group to enhance or create systems needed to improve operational efficiency throughout the CTI.
  • Oversees sharing activities with investigators outside the CTI who seek access to data and specimens.
  • Oversees the updating and implementation of policies and procedures to insure the uniformity of procedures across the CTI.
