The Associate Director, Finance and Grants serves as a key team member and will manage and oversee pre-award and post-award grant, philanthropic and contracted services management for both research and community programs operations. This position will have responsibility and oversight for grant and contract management, budgets and reporting, and general accounting support. This position will partner with Division Leadership for oversight of all budgets.

This position works with program leadership and centralized resources to effectively and efficiently steward all funding.

• Development and management of project budgets and fiscal reporting in collaboration with Leadership, including the development of new proposals in partnership with other staff.
• Development of annual program budgets in collaboration with Leadership, including salary support and time and effort reporting, for staff, faculty and program leaders.
• Ensuring that staff and faculty salary templates are accurate and updated.
• Submission of documentation for salary template changes or corrections.
• Creating, streamlining and ensuring consistency in office processes and overseeing other administrative aspects of day-to-day fiscal operations as it relates to grants, program and research budgets.
• Development and oversight of all contractual arrangements. This may entail working with outside partners (e.g., funders, subcontractors, consultants, etc.) and Lurie Children’s administrative departments (e.g., Legal Services, Lurie Children’s Foundation, Accounting, Office of Sponsored Programs) on the creation, review, and approval of contracts, memoranda of understanding, letters of agreement,
• Serving as a primary point of interface with other Lurie Children’s administrative departments (e.g., Finance and Accounting, Research Business Office (including Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP), Sponsored Research Finance (SRFO), Research Financial Portfolio Managers (RBM), Post-Award Accounting, Research Business Compliance (ECC and Audits) and Research Business Accounts Receivable) and Foundation Finance). This will include attending all appropriate department and Lurie Children’s business meetings and ensuring that research and program interests are well represented.
• Development and management of administrative databases related to grants and philanthropic spending for all programs.
• The authority to hire, separate, promote, demote, write and administer performance evaluations.
• Supervision of finance and accounting, and other related staff.
• Assists with managing program’s budget; handles day to day financial operational issues including budget monitoring, invoices, payroll and expense reconciliation, materials and services as aligned with approved budgets.
• Maintains budget and financial reporting per reporting standards and requirements.
• Prepares documentation for site visits and audits.
• Leads activities designed to improve program processes/performance.
• Works on special projects as required by the leadership and assumes other responsibilities and duties as assigned.
