Role Description The Automotive Service Manager is a full-time, on-site role based in Chicago, IL, responsible for overseeing daily operations of the service department. This role includes managing service advisors and technicians, coordinating repair and maintenance schedules, ensuring accurate diagnoses, and monitoring quality control for all service work. The Service Manager will support customer interactions, resolve escalated service issues, and maintain high levels of customer satisfaction and retention.

Additional responsibilities include managing shop workflow, monitoring KPIs, overseeing warranty and OEM procedures, and collaborating with parts and sales departments to support overall dealership performance. The role also involves training and coaching team members, maintaining a safe and compliant work environment, and optimizing processes to improve efficiency and profitability.
Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong skills in Vehicle Maintenance and Automotive service operations.
  • Candidates should possess proven Customer Satisfaction and Customer Service skills, with a focus on relationship-building.
  • Candidates should possess clear and professional Communication skills for interacting with customers, technicians, and leadership.
  • Experience managing an automotive service department or related supervisory role in the automotive industry.
  • Knowledge of OEM standards, warranty processes, and service management software (DMS systems).
  • Ability to lead, coach, and motivate a diverse team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • High school diploma required; additional technical training, ASE certifications, or automotive management education are beneficial.
