Position OverviewAre you someone who loves keeping things moving—materials flowing, schedules aligned, and teams supported? If you enjoy working at the intersection of planning, purchasing, and production, this could be a great next step for you.
We’re looking for a Buyer / Planner I to support our manufacturing operations by managing inventory flow, coordinating purchasing activities, maintaining production schedules, and partnering closely with suppliers and internal teams. This role plays a key part in ensuring we deliver high-quality products to our customers—on time and in the right quantities.
What You’ll Do Inventory Management & Material Flow- Manage raw material requirements using ERP data and customer demand.
- Monitor inventory levels, supporting JIT delivery, Kanban, and min/max systems.
- Coordinate material deliveries based on production schedules, capacity, and ship dates.
- Partner with Inventory, Production, Engineering, and Customer Service teams to support changing priorities.
- Identify and communicate material risks or shortages early to minimize production disruptions.
- Support cycle counts and inventory corrections as needed.
- Drive the procurement process for production materials and support MRO purchasing as backup.
- Issue and manage purchase orders, amendments, and related ERP transactions.
- Work with suppliers on pricing, lead times, delivery schedules, and service expectations.
- Track and maintain accurate vendor data, including quotes, lead times, and performance.
- Proactively review open orders and adjust based on demand and inventory position.
- Escalate supplier concerns to the Materials Manager when appropriate.
- Develop, maintain, and communicate production schedules for assigned customers or production lines.
- Publish monthly production schedules and support 30/60/90 operations planning.
- Participate in daily production (GEMBA) meetings, sharing material status and delivery updates.
- Collaborate with Production leadership to anticipate staffing, equipment, and resource needs.
- Support production continuity across shifts, including second-shift transitions.
- Participate in customer meetings as needed.
- Provide work orders and sub-assembly plans to the production floor.
- Compile Lot History Records (LHRs) to support compliant manufacturing.
- Support supplier quality reviews and maintain awareness of supplier quality agreements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across planning, purchasing, and supply chain processes.
What We’re Looking For
- 1–3 years of experience in purchasing, sourcing, planning, or a related manufacturing role.
- Experience working with ERP/MRP systems.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
- Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail with solid problem‑solving abilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and maintain productive relationships.
- Purchasing or planning experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with lean manufacturing concepts, floor layouts, tooling, and fixturing.
- Experience supporting production schedules and inventory optimization.
- Degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
