Packer
As a Packer, you will play a crucial role in lifting and transporting bundles of corrugated bulk containers filled with plastic bottles. Your responsibilities will include assembling these into grouped boxes and securing them with twine. You will inspect plastic bottles for any defects and ensure all approved bottles are packed correctly. Monitoring automated machinery to prevent jams and notifying supervisors of any issues will be a key part of your role.
You will ensure conveyor belts remain clear, operate the bagger machine, alert personnel about raw material needs, track production numbers, and accurately label boxes or bags.
- Lift and transport bundles of corrugated bulk containers filled with plastic bottles.
- Assemble bundles into grouped boxes and secure with twine.
- Inspect plastic bottles for defects such as holes, surface lines, or water spots.
- Pack approved bottles into boxes.
- Monitor automated machinery to prevent operational jams.
- Notify supervisor of defective bottles or equipment malfunctions.
- Ensure conveyor belts remain clear of excess bottles.
- Operate the bagger machine as required.
- Alert appropriate personnel when additional raw materials are needed.
- Track the number of bottles produced during each shift.
- Accurately label boxes or bags with the correct date and shift identification.
- Support departmental inventory activities and perform routine record-keeping tasks.
- Experience in packing, production, and packaging.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment.
- Comfortable standing for 8+ hours a day.
- Experience with packing boxes and putting caps on bottles.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in packaging and capping bottles.
- Experience operating filling machines.

Work EnvironmentYou will work in a clean and well-lit environment, with access to a cafeteria featuring large industrial fridges and a food court with vending machine options. Safety is a priority, with numerous safety signs throughout the facility. The company produces dish detergent, cleaning products, and laundry detergent.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chicago, IL.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $16.60 - $17.50/hr.
