POSITION SUMMARY:

The Regulatory Compliance Specialist creates key documentation and maintains regulatory compliance for all products developed to meet customer, industry, and regulatory standards. This role ensures all technical documentation pertaining to product formulations, specifications, and attributes are accurately developed, distributed, and maintained. The incumbent develops product nutrition information and ingredients lists and validates product label compliance with regulatory requirements. Additionally, they develop product formulations and manage the organization and distribution of technical documents to relevant stakeholders.

They are also responsible for change management of documentation and maintenance product information databases. This position reports to the VP of R&D, Quality & Technical Services.

Responsibilities
  • Generate nutrition facts and ingredient lists for product labeling compliant with local regulations and validate accuracy of label information and product claims.
  • Develop and maintain product formulations, specification sheets, product attributes, and technical documentation.
  • Ensure proper distribution and updates of key documentation to customers, including responding to customer requests for product specifications and attributes.
  • Manage product internal and external specifications and ensure stakeholders are resourced with up-to-date information.
  • Partner with stakeholder departments to prepare regulatory documentation for product registration that meet local regulations.
  • Provide support to Manufacturing operations, Quality and Logistics to ensure effective coordination of critical documentation, technical information, and product specifications.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in food/beverage manufacturing in an R&D role required;
    Experience with formula development, technical documentation, regulatory compliance, labeling nutrition preferred.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology or other related discipline– Required (combination of education and experience will be considered).
  • Understanding of FDA, CODEX and other domestic and international food regulations.
  • Able to lift 30 lbs., stand, walk and sit for prolonged periods of time and climb stairs and ladders.
  • Ability to work cross functionally with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent organization and project management skills.
  • Must reside in the Chicagoland area.
