The structural steel Assembler plays a crucial role in our structural steel fabrication process. They are responsible for assembling structural steel components to create various structures, including buildings, bridges, industrial facilities, and other steel-based constructions. The role requires precision, technical skills, and a solid understanding of structural engineering principles.
QUALIFICATIONS- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Proven experience as a structural steel assembler or similar role.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.
- Knowledge of various steel fabrication techniques, tools, and equipment.
- Familiarity with relevant industry codes, standards, and safety regulations.
- Physical strength and stamina to handle heavy steel components.
- Attention to detail and precision in fitting and assembly work.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
- Reading and interpreting blueprints:
Study detailed shop and engineering drawings, plans, and specifications to understand the layout, dimensions, and specifications of the steel components to be fabricated and fitted. - Assembling:
Align, position, and fit steel bridge components together by use of cranes, forklifts, hydraulic and manual jacks, come-a-longs and other equipment. Ensure proper alignment and adjust as necessary to maintain structural integrity. - Drilling and Bolting:
Operate magnetic drills, grinders and pneumatic wrenches to finalize and bolt assemblies as needed per engineered details. - Collaborate with construction teams and QA/QC to ensure accurate placement and alignment of the steel structures.
- Quality control and inspection:
Perform visual inspections and quality checks throughout the fabrication and fitting process to ensure compliance with project specifications, industry standards, and safety regulations. - Equipment maintenance:
Maintain and clean tools, equipment, and machinery used in the fabrication and fitting process. Report any malfunctions or repair needs to the appropriate personnel. - Safety compliance:
Adhere to safety guidelines and procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), to ensure a safe working environment. Identify potential hazards and report them to the supervisor. - Collaboration and communication:
Coordinate and communicate effectively with project managers, engineers, and other team members to ensure the smooth execution of projects. Provide updates on progress, challenges, and any required changes. - Continuous learning:
Stay updated with industry trends, advancements in steel fabrication techniques, and safety regulations. Attend training sessions and workshops to enhance technical skills and knowledge.
