- Shift Premium: Additional $0.25 per hour for working between 5 PM and 5 AM
This position is responsible for performing preventive maintenance for a two‑shift manufacturing operation, troubleshooting and repairing machine problems, and ensuring production runs at maximum efficiency while reducing costs.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities- Respond to breakdowns and failures on the plant floor.
- Troubleshoot and correct equipment.
- Perform electrical, plumbing, pneumatic and hydraulic tasks.
- Perform preventive maintenance on plant equipment in a thorough and safe manner.
- Communicate effectively with team members and management.
- Work in a team environment or independently.
- Train production employees as well as other mechanics and be willing to be trained by other mechanics.
- Work weekends or overtime with short notice on a daily basis if needed.
- Commit to a continuous improvement work team environment.
- Other duties and/or projects assigned.
- Necessary to work as a team supporting and communicating properly with the other members of the production line and maintenance.
- Position interfaces with all department supervisors, leads and machine operators to determine extent of maintenance assistance.
- Assists contractors as needed.
- Pushing, pulling, bending.
- Able to work on feet for the entire shift.
- Perform tasks requiring standing, lifting, pulling, climbing of machinery and/or tooling.
- Work in high ambient temperatures.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Electrical – troubleshooting knowledge of 3‑phase 480
VAC, control circuits of 110
VAC and 24DC, AB PLCs. - Welding – able to weld with TIG and stick.
- Cutting – torch, band saw, grinder, plasma cutter.
- Fabricating – able to fabricate simple guards, covers, catch pans, etc.
- Drilling/Milling – knowledge of use of power drills, drill press, mill and lathe machines.
- General knowledge of maintenance functions such as electrical, plumbing, conveyors, motors/gearboxes, reading schematics/blueprints.
- Preferred minimum two years of experience in a manufacturing setting.
