Operations Manager, Manufacturing Engineer
The Fountain Group is a national staffing firm and we are currently seeking a Project Manager, Operations (Manufacturing / Transformation) for a prominent client of ours. This position is in Lake County, IL.
Location:
Lake County, IL (Hybrid). Pay Rate: $92 - $98/hour.
Schedule:
Monday–Friday, standard business hours.
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager, Operations to support global manufacturing and operational initiatives across a complex, cross-functional environment. This role will partner closely with internal stakeholders across U.S. and international sites (including Ireland) to drive project execution, process optimization, and operational excellence.
This position is ideal for a project manager with a strong foundation in pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or medical device manufacturing, and experience leading cross-site or global initiatives. Exposure to digital transformation, automation, or data-driven tools (AI/analytics) is a plus.
Key Responsibilities- Lead cross-functional project teams to deliver operational and manufacturing initiatives on time and within scope.
- Develop and manage integrated project plans, timelines, and resource allocations.
- Partner with global stakeholders (including manufacturing sites and functional teams) to align on project objectives and deliverables.
- Drive process improvement and operational efficiency initiatives across manufacturing and supply chain environments.
- Support technology transfer, process optimization, and/or product lifecycle activities.
- Identify project risks, develop mitigation strategies, and ensure successful execution.
- Facilitate project meetings, track progress, and communicate updates to leadership and stakeholders.
- Ensure alignment with broader organizational strategies, including global operations and procurement initiatives.
- Support implementation of digital tools, automation, or data-driven solutions to enhance operational performance (as applicable).
- Maintain strong focus on compliance, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in a scientific, engineering, or related field.
- 6+ years of experience in project management within pharmaceutical, biotech, or medical device environments.
- Proven experience supporting manufacturing, operations, supply chain, or process improvement initiatives.
- Strong cross-functional leadership and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent communication, organization, and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Solid understanding of GMP/GxP environments.
- Experience supporting global or multi-site manufacturing projects.
- Background in technology transfer, product development, or process optimization.
- Exposure to digital transformation, automation, data analytics, or AI-driven tools in operations.
- PMP, Six Sigma, or other project management certifications.
- Familiarity with systems such as SAP, MES, or other manufacturing/operations platforms.
