Job Title:

Production Supervisor Job Description

The Production Supervisor oversees daily operations on the production line, ensuring food products are mixed, packaged, and labeled according to company standards and regulatory guidelines. This role operates and monitors production equipment, upholds strict safety and quality standards such as HACCP and GMP, and maintains a clean, organized, and efficient work area while leading a production team on a 1st shift schedule.

Responsibilities
  • Operate and monitor production equipment in accordance with established company standards and procedures.
  • Lead and coordinate the production team responsible for mixing, packaging, and labeling food products.
  • Ensure all production activities comply with HACCP and GMP standards and other applicable food safety guidelines.
  • Perform routine checks to verify that all products meet required specifications and quality standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the production area, equipment, and workstations.
  • Support general production activities, including machine operation and general labor tasks as needed to meet production goals.
  • Promote and enforce safe work practices on the production floor to protect team members and maintain compliance with safety policies.
  • Monitor workflow and make adjustments to maintain efficiency, minimize downtime, and meet production schedules.
  • Communicate clearly with team members and other departments to resolve issues and ensure smooth operations.
  • Document production activities and report any deviations, equipment issues, or quality concerns promptly.
Essential Skills
  • Production supervision experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
  • Hands‑on experience with production and machine operation in a food or similar setting.
  • Strong understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and their application in a production environment.
  • Ability to follow HACCP and other food safety and quality guidelines.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods during the shift.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
  • Willingness to work in a temperature‑controlled environment.
  • Ability to work 1st shift from 7:00 AM to 7:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
Additional

Skills & Qualifications
  • Previous experience in food manufacturing or food production is preferred.
  • Prior experience working under GMP standards is an advantage.
  • Experience with general labor and general production tasks in a manufacturing setting.
  • Machine operation experience in a food production or similar environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in more than one language is preferred.
  • Strong teamwork skills and the ability to lead and motivate production staff.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Chicago, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $26.00 - $32.00/hr.
