Job Title and Shift
Slitter Operator Shift: 1st, Monday - Friday 6:00am - 2:30pm Salary: $25/hour to $27/hour
Job Purpose & ScopeThe Slitter Operator is responsible for all aspects of setup, operation and quality control of the large and small slitter machines in the Chicago Plant. They will be expected to setup knives/spacers, over and under arms, operate an overhead crane, slit aluminum and steel, and perform quality checks in accordance with standard procedures and expectations.
Key Responsibilities- Operate the slitter to support Grid, Metal Ceilings, and engineering seeds
- Operate forklift in accordance with plant rules
- Use the crane to unload trucks and load coils onto the slitter
- Perform setups for knives and over/under arms accurately and in a timely fashion
- Perform QC checks on all incoming full coils, and slit coils
- Empty slitter scrap containers
- Safely unload coils from slitter onto skids or racks
- Help in other areas of the plant if the slitter is down for repair or not scheduled to run
- Complete 5S tasks throughout the slitter area
- Ability to self‑manage time, prioritize orders, and pay close attention to detail
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs and be on feet for 8 hours straight
- At least 1‑2 years experience in a factory setting operating slitter machinery
- Preference for SAP experience
- Forklift certification
