Job Description

Huber Cabinet Works is seeking a Microvellum Programmer & Procurement Specialist to join our team.

We are a custom architectural millwork company based in the Logan Square neighborhood of Chicago, specializing in high‑end commercial interiors. We partner with some of Chicago’s top general contractors and deliver projects for some of the most well‑known companies. As our longtime programmer and materials buyer plans on retirement after many years of service, we are looking for a skilled, detail‑oriented professional to step into a critical role and work alongside our team.

While this position is ideally a dual‑role (Microvellum programming + procurement), we are also open to candidates who specialize in either discipline.

About the Role

You will take shop drawing sets and:

  • Program all cabinet parts and assemblies in Microvellum for CNC production
  • Support shop operations through material takeoffs and procurement working alongside Project Managers, Shop Manager and CAD team

This is a high‑impact position with real ownership, including the opportunity to build and improve procurement systems as the company continues to grow.

Key Responsibilities Microvellum & CNC Programming
  • Program approved AutoCAD cabinetry and millwork drawings into Microvellum
  • Build parts, assemblies, and nesting layouts for CNC machining
  • Interpret detailed shop drawings and translate design intent into machine‑ready output
  • Optimize sheet usage to minimize waste and maximize CNC efficiency
  • Review and refine programs to reduce production issues before release to the shop
  • Coordinate with shop, CAD team, and project managers to align with production requirements
  • Expand Microvellum use into additional custom millwork applications over time
Procurement & Takeoffs
  • Perform material takeoffs from approved drawings for accurate purchasing
  • Purchase project specific laminates, melamines, MDF, cores, and other sheet goods
  • Maintain shop inventory (materials, consumables, hardware) and reorder proactively
  • Build and manage vendor relationships
  • Identify cost savings and lead‑time improvements on recurring materials
  • Develop and implement procurement and inventory tracking systems
  • Work with project managers, shop manager, and field/install manager to align procurement with project schedules, shop production needs, and install crew needs
Flexible Role Structure

We recognize that strong candidates may specialize in different areas. While our ideal hire can support both Microvellum programming and procurement, we are open to structuring the role based on experience:

  • Microvellum‑focused candidates with strong programming and CNC experience
  • Procurement‑focused candidates with experience in millwork takeoffs and purchasing
  • Hybrid candidates who can contribute across both areas
Qualifications
  • Minimum 3+ years experience in the architectural millwork industry
  • Microvellum programming experience (parts, nesting, CNC output)
  • Ability to read and interpret shop drawings
  • Strong understanding of sheet goods, hardware and other shop materials
  • Solid understanding of cabinetry and millwork construction
  • Strong attention to detail and problem‑solving skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively across teams
  • Experience purchasing materials for a millwork or cabinetry operation
  • Experience with BSolid or other CNC programming platforms
  • Interest in expanding Microvellum into broader custom millwork applications
Compensation

Pay range: $80,000 – $110,000+ (based on experience)

Compensation will be based on experience, skill level, and ability to contribute across both programming and procurement. Performance based bonus opportunities are offered.

Why Join Huber Cabinet Works
  • Established, respected company with strong contractor relationships
  • High‑end, detail‑driven projects
  • Opportunity to take ownership of a critical role
  • Direct impact on production efficiency and company growth
  • Collaborative, team‑oriented environment

If you are a detail‑oriented professional who takes pride in clean programming, accurate takeoffs, and keeping a high‑performing millwork operation running at its best — we’d love to hear from you.

Whether your strength is in Microvellum programming, procurement, or both, we encourage you to apply!
