Position: Manufacturing Laboratory Supervisor (1141672)

Location: Chicago, IL

Salary: $80,000.00 USD Annually - $90,000.00 USD Annually

Description

Our client is currently seeking a Laboratory Supervisor for their Manufacturing Facility located in the greater Bedford Park area of Chicago. The Laboratory Supervisor will support the daily manufacturing operations by maintaining the schedule, conducting product testing, performing quality tests and coordinating the QMS, including the ISO 9001 program. The Lab Supervisor will perform quality testing on inbound and outbound products and act as the inventory control coordinator.

This is a Monday‑Friday position, working 7:00am – 3:30pm. Previous direct management/supervisor experience is a must‑have along with a background in Chemistry or Biology & a Bachelor’s degree. Previous experience running and calibrating the following lab tests: ICP, Viscosity, NOACK, Cold Crank, Crackle are preferred.

Responsibilities
  • Perform quality testing on inbound and outbound products
  • Supervise blending personnel
  • Lead project management for blending/bulk distribution
  • Quality Management Systems coordinator including ISO 9001 program
  • Maintain production schedule and purchase raw materials (bulk production and lab)
  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment as well as maintain equipment maintenance intervals
  • Act as bulk inventory control coordinator
  • Other duties and responsibilities as determined by Valvoline from time to time in its sole discretion
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Minimum B.S. in Chemistry, Biology, Engineering or Related Field
  • 2+ years of Laboratory experience – preferably within a fast‑paced manufacturing environment
  • Previous experience with production scheduling and lean Six Sigma – preferred
  • Experience running/calibrating lab tests: ICP, Viscosity, NOACK, Cold Crank, Crackle – preferred
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Computer skills – specifically Excel, PowerPoint, SAP and quality management software
