Job Summary

4. Perform duties to assist the Tube Mill Operator and Mill Cutoff Operator in the changeover, set up, and operation of the tube mill. Receives direction and instruction from Shift Supervisor or Tube Mill Operator.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Conscientiously work toward running a safer and cleaner operation.
  • Removes  wire from tubing.
  • Visually inspects and sort tubing in accordance with order instructions.
  • Prepares bundles of tubing, including preparation and use of cardboard boxing material, wood collars, end plugs, plastic sheeting, banding material, etc.
  • Accurately and legibly completes material identification tags and attaches them to material.
  • Assists in machine changeovers.
  • Uses common hand tools and manual and powered banding tools.
  • Mill Assistant with least seniority on shift will accept assignment to incumbent Mill Coil Welder position if it becomes vacant on his/her shift and no eligible employee applies for the position.
  • Assumes various other duties at the direction of the shift supervisor.
Qualifications

Minimum Education and/or Experience Requirements:

  • Good manual dexterity, good mobility. Become and maintain qualification as a Mill Coil Welder.

Skills and Abilities
  • Language

    Skills:

    Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Mathematical

    Skills:

    Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using while numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Reasoning Ability:
    Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

    Skills and Abilities:

    Must be computer literate and able to work with programs such as Word, Excel, etc., and be able to learn and use HP programs such as e-mail, ERP system, etc.
  • Must have knowledge on simple computer programming. Requires excellent measurement skills. Ability to follow instructions from technical parameters. Perform duties proficiently, and be able to work in a fast paced environment with ability to handle and prioritize multiple competing tasks and demands. Must have strong work ethic. Must be able to work flexible schedules and hours.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and use arms and hands to load and unload material for an extended period of time. Must be able to safely lift and load 50 lbs. Must also be able to work outside in a variety of conditions. Candidates must be able to tolerate any climate, and be flexible with shift and hours.
