In this job you will machine various precision components to produce S&C products. You will work in a production environment with measured production rates and will be accountable for the quality of your work. Set-ups vary from 30 minutes to 1.5 hours, and once set-up, a job runs from 30 minutes to 5 hours. Most tasks require good hand/eye coordination and full range of motion of both hands and arms on a regular basis.

  • 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM (Mon–Friday)
  • Overtime as needed
Compensation

We are dedicated to competitive and equitable compensation with transparency in pay practices. The estimated hourly base pay ranges from $22.25–$31.00 per hour, depending on experience. This role is eligible for S&C’s annual incentive bonus, subject to eligibility criteria.

Join Our Team as a Machinist

The Machinist II operates a variety of machines, including CNC and manual equipment, to produce precision parts. They interpret blueprints to determine part specifications and perform basic documentation and maintenance tasks to ensure smooth processes and movement of materials.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate manual and CNC machines to fabricate parts according to standard specifications.
  • Set up machines with the appropriate materials.
  • Interpret blueprints, drawings, and other technical specifications to ensure accurate fabrication.
  • Perform basic routine maintenance on machines and tools and report issues to department leaders.
  • Use an overhead crane and other material handling equipment to position materials for machining.
  • Complete first-piece inspection using measurement tools to confirm material, quality, and specifications before machining.
  • Maintain records of fabrication activities and document corrective actions as needed.
  • Deburr metal parts using hand and/or power tools, ensuring readiness for further processing.
  • Meet department targets and adhere to quality and safety standards.
  • Understand and comply with Company policies and rules.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
  • High School diploma/GED
  • 3+ years of experience operating manual and computer-controlled machinery
  • Ability to use hand tools and precision measuring instruments (calipers, micrometers, height gauges)
  • Knowledge of machine controls and programs
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • Ability to work independently and meet material requests
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic computer skills with the ability to respond to requests via internal applications
  • Basic math skills for calculating quantities, weights, and measurements
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Ability and willingness to follow Health, Safety & Environment procedures and report concerns promptly
Preferred
  • 5+ years of machinist/manufacturing experience
  • Experience with setup and operation of manual equipment and computer-controlled machining and turning centers
Major Physical Demands
  • Standing for most tasks; occasional walking
  • Frequent lifting of items 5–50 lbs
  • Occasional carrying, pushing, pulling, bending, reaching
  • Continuous handling of parts and hand-tools
