Systems Engineer
Overview
The role coordinates team activities and supports Project Managers. Under minimal supervision, performs as scheduler and/or commodity tracker for major projects; develops and analyzes intermediate and complex scope of work schedules using the assigned system; plans, schedules, baselines, updates, maintains, and analyzes scope of work schedules. When applicable, maintains security, reporting, maintenance, and daily operation of systems and KPIs for assigned scopes of work projects.
Must be self-motivated, a good communicator, and a team-focused individual able to perform scheduling techniques and analyses on all scope of work aspects. Additional duties may include developing and implementing scope of work schedule status reports for the management team. Interfaces with execution teams, contractors, suppliers, and AEP management.
- Define activities, durations, work sequences, and logic to develop the scope of work plan and milestones for key decisions and deliverables during execution.
- Develop, maintain, and analyze scope of work project schedules using the assigned system (e.g., Primavera, Smartsheet).
- Organize and lead schedule review meetings with stakeholders; document clear minutes and action items.
- Engage team and stakeholders to create schedules and provide schedule analysis updates; alert on schedule risks and issues that could delay milestones.
- Communicate schedule status to project stakeholders and assist in management of projects to organizational standards.
- Adhere to governance and standards; work with Administrator to assign security, profiles, and roles for new users.
- Learn, use, and refine techniques to update progress, baseline schedules, maintain schedules, develop commodity curves, track metrics, and support project/outage teams.
- Provide periodic summary status reports and prepare/analyze metrics or KPIs.
- Project Scheduler Assc (Grade-005): $63,496 – $79,360. No experience required with an Associate's or Bachelor's degree; with High School Diploma, minimum two (2) years of qualified experience. Degrees may be in Accounting, Business, Construction Management, Engineering, Technology, or Project Management.
- Project Scheduler (Grade
6): $74,551 – $93,188. Education dependent on experience:
High School Diploma or GED (5 years), Associate's degree (3 years), Bachelor’s degree (1 year). Experience in utility operations knowledge, design, planning, project management, cost tracking, forecasting, budgets, and related areas. - Project Scheduler Sr (Grade
7): $87,633 – $109,544. Education dependent on experience:
High School Diploma or GED (6 years), Associate's degree (4 years), Bachelor’s degree (2 years). Similar applicable experience in utility operations and project management disciplines. - Other requirements: strong time management, organizational and planning skills; accuracy, attention to detail, and goal achievement; strong written and verbal communication; team player; proficiency with Microsoft Office and complex spreadsheets; some travel, including overnight; ability to coordinate multiple scopes of work projects; awareness of safety conditions at sites as applicable.
Competitive compensation and a comprehensive benefits package. Compensation ranges: approximately $63,500 – $110,000 depending on role and experience. Employer-provided benefits and related programs are described by the company.
