ACH Food Companies, Inc. (ACH) is a prominent consumer packaged goods company. In North America, we market, sell and manufacture a premier branded portfolio of cooking oils and baking ingredients and food service brands in the US, Canada, Puerto Rico and Mexico.
The Quality Control Technician performs routine and non-routine tests on in-process samples, finished product, ingredients, and manufacturing supplies. This role maintains, troubleshoots and does minor repairs on laboratory apparatus; inputs data in computer for a variety of reports.
This role works in-person, on-site at the Argo Plant. Plant operations are Monday-Friday, with some weekends; three (3) union shifts run from 7:00 AM - 3:00 PM, 3:00 PM - 11:00 PM, and 11:00 PM - 7:00 AM (Central time).
This position is for a 2nd Shift Quality, non-union position that will mirror the union shifts. Training for this position will occur on 1st shift before transitioning to other shifts.
This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship or OPT work authorization. Successful applicants must be work-eligible through E-Verify for this role.
Performs routine and non-routine tests on in-process samples, finished product, ingredients and manufacturing supplies.
Performs special tests and projects related to the operation as required.
Uses, maintains, troubleshoots, and does minor repairs on standard laboratory apparatus for performing routine and non-routine analyses. Observes Good Laboratory Practices when performing analyses.
Compares test results and disseminates information as required.
Enters data into computer for the purpose of maintaining a permanent record of all finished analyses, out-of-specification report, and end-of-the-month reports.
Follows inventory of necessary chemicals and equipment and makes out orders for timely replacement or repair.
Compares test results with current specifications and advises supervisory and production personnel of problems and/or out-of-code situations. Makes recommendations as to cause and resolution of problems.
Evaluates results and independently ensures accuracy before alerting supervisory or production personnel.
Works with production on solution to problems, including audit of quality performance by operators.
Maintains high standard of cleanliness and housekeeping in the laboratory work area.
Involved in various activities with food safety.
This position is also responsible for food safety and quality. Provides support to the plant's GMP, and Food Safety programs.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Ability to use mathematical techniques to calculate data or solve practical problems with a high level of knowledge and accuracy in math calculations.
High School Diploma or Equivalent Education required.
1-5 years of experience in a food laboratory environment.
High level of formal training on laboratory procedures or equivalent work experience.
Experience with production processes and procedures.
In depth knowledge of laboratory equipment.
Ability to walk/sit for extended periods of time.
Ability to rotate shifts, as needed and required for work.
Knowledge of Windows and Microsoft suite products.
Working knowledge in other software programs, such as SAP, is desirable.
Certifications in SQF and PCQI is preferred.
There is occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds. The employee will frequently be exposed to moving mechanical parts.

Salary Range: $47,300 - $58,380 (compensation will vary based on candidates' qualifications, job related knowledge and experience and specific location)
