Job Summary:
The Sample Coordinator is responsible for preparing, organizing, maintaining, and coordinating the shipment of product samples for customers, sales presentations, and ongoing Product Development activities. This position supports the Product Development team by ensuring samples are produced accurately, packaged properly, documented, and delivered according to customer and project timelines. The ideal candidate will have hands-on bakery experience, particularly with laminated dough products such as croissants, Danish, cinnamon rolls, and bread products.
This role requires strong organization skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work closely with Sales, Product Development, Quality Assurance, and Production teams. Essential
Job Responsibilities:
Support Product Development projects by preparing product samples requested by Sales and/or customers while maintaining product quality, brand standards, and operational capabilities. Assist Product Development with receiving, organizing, moving, and storing ingredient samples. Coordinate the production, packaging, labeling, and shipment of customer and internal product samples according to project timelines. Prepare croissant, Danish, cinnamon roll, and other bakery product samples by following established formulas and procedures.
Maintain accurate records of customer sample requests, contact information, product details, and shipment history. Create sample labels, shipping documentation, and handling instructions. Package samples appropriately to ensure product quality and safe delivery to customers. Maintain sample request records, bench trial documentation, line trial records, analytical test information, and Product Development project documentation. Coordinate communication between Sales, Production, Quality Assurance, and Product Development teams regarding product availability and sample requirements.
Maintain an inventory of 37SB products, including product rotation to ensure freshness and product availability. Coordinate sample retention storage and maintain retention areas in partnership with QA Technicians and Production teams. Maintain inventory of packaging materials, sample supplies, labels, and shipping materials. Assist with product cuttings, customer evaluations, and sensory reviews as needed. Learn bakery processing procedures and assist with operator training and process demonstrations.
Maintain a safe, clean, organized, and efficient Product Development laboratory environment. Follow alt company policies, procedures, and safety requirements. Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned based on business needs.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Culinary school training or baking education preferred. Professional baking experience preferred, with hands-on knowledge of laminated dough products including croissants, Danish, cinnamon rolls, and bread products. Experience working with food allergens including dairy, egg, soy, and other regulated ingredients. Basic computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple sample requests and priorities.
Bilingual English/Spanish preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to:
Stand and walk for extended periods while working in a bakery and product development environment. Use hands and fingers to mold, handle, inspect, package, and evaluate products. Reach, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, and balance as needed. Work around bakery equipment and production lines. Walk or sit for extended periods while supporting assembly line and production processes. Bend, stoop, and crouch regularly to access equipment, ingredients, and supplies.
Work in environmental conditions ranging from 50° F to 110° F with humidity levels up to 98%. Lift and/or move materials weighing more than 50 pounds when required. Safety and Security Responsibilities:
