Chicago Meat Authority (CMA) is proud to have celebrated 36 years in the food industry. Located in Chicago’s historic Stockyards, CMA is a forward‑thinking processor of value‑added beef, pork, and poultry items with a strong focus on the Healthcare, Hotel, and Institutional Markets (HRI), meat purveyors, and multi‑unit regional and national chains up to and including big‑box stores. In addition, CMA specializes in custom cuts for further processors, including grinding operations, deli manufacturers, and the prepared entrée market.

CMA is seeking General Laborers for our meat processing facility.

• Open and load meat onto a conveyor table.
• Use a scale to weigh product according to specifications.
• Pack product in either boxes or bags according to specifications.
• Ensure packed items use correct packaging labels and materials.
• Verify that each boxed or bagged item is in good condition.
• Operate Cryovac or other packing machines.
• Flip product from baskets to combos.
• Marinate product.
• Operate a grinder.
• Perform general housekeeping and other duties as assigned.

• Be available to work overtime and occasional Saturdays.
• Wear all required personal protective equipment.
• Lift up to 60 pounds and push up to 70 pounds, depending on function.
• Be able to crouch and bend as needed.
• Work comfortably with cold or frozen materials in a cold environment.
• Preferable experience in meat processing, food processing, or other refrigerated manufacturing.
• Have at least one year of continuous experience in each prior job.
• Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
• Follow all safety regulations and support others in working safely.
• Follow all CMA policies and procedures.

• A sense of urgency.
• Desire to learn and advance in a career – opportunities exist for roles such as butchers, trimmers, saw operators, and forklift drivers.

Starting Rate: $18.26 per hour
