OPPORTUNITY
We are a Food service folding carton manufacturing operation seeking candidates to join our Chicago, IL team. This job posting is for a Palletizer Operator with a pay range of $20.39 to $21.18/hour plus shift differential and progressive pay increases. Operates console that controls automatic palletizing equipment to sort, transfer, and stack on pallets the cases of finished product. Reads packaging specifications to ensure correct pallet type and arrangement of cases onto pallet matches specification. They must understand and align business operations and cutting department as he/she executes their role to exceed customer expectations and align with GPI business, cultural, financial and operational objectives.
JOBFUNCTIONS
Job functions include but are not limited to the following.
- Operates console that controls automatic palletizing equipment to sort, transfer, and stack on pallets the cases of finished product. Reads packaging specifications to ensure correct pallet type and arrangement of cases onto pallet matches specification.
- Observes pallets moving along conveyor to identify defective cases, slip sheets or pallets.
- Turns selector switch on palletizer to control stacking arrangement of cases on pallet and to transfer loaded pallet to delivery platform.
- Supplies loading equipment with empty pallets and slip sheets.
- Stops and restarts equipment to clear jams.
- Informs supervisor of equipment malfunction.
- Operate automatic bagger equipment by threading bag and going through the startup process.
- Manufacturing experience preferred
- Must be able to work other shifts if needed and perform overtime work as required.
- Must have the ability to read, write and speak English. Must have excellent communication skills, communicating with people at all levels throughout the organization.
- Qualified candidate will be mechanically inclined, solution oriented and some computer knowledge.
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Schedules are up to 8 or 12-hour shifts on alternate days with rotating weekends off. However, employees must have the ability to work alternate schedules and overtime that may include early mornings, nights, and/or weekends and be punctual while doing so.
- Some Departments/Jobs may run a M-F 8-hour Shift Schedule.
- Must be willing and able to work overtime.
- Sitting or standing, depending on changing job assignment, for extended periods.
