TOOL & DIE MAKER

We are looking for a skilled Tool & Die Maker to support our established metal stamping facility located on the North Side of Chicago. In this role, you will play a key part in the maintenance, modification, and construction of essential tooling for our multi-slide and punch press operations.

This position is based in Chicago, IL, with a starting pay range of $30 to $35 per hour. You will work a 1st shift schedule from 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM. Employees become eligible for medical, dental, retirement plans, and paid time off after completing 720 hours of service.

• Maintain high production standards by repairing, debugging, and modifying punch press and fourslide/multi-slide dies.
• Ensure new dies meet precise dimensional specifications by performing thorough testing and necessary adjustments.
• Support the production team by diagnosing die issues and implementing effective corrective solutions.
• Examine dies by disassembling them to check for damaged or worn components like springs, punches, and perforators.
• Contribute to the efficiency of the shop by machining replacement tooling parts and reassembling dies.
• Interpret complex blueprints, technical sketches, and design specifications to guide your daily work.
• Help ensure high-quality output by manufacturing components to strict tolerances and verifying die accuracy.
• Utilize various hand and machine tools to assemble, fit, and repair specialized jigs, gauges, and dies.
• Operate a variety of CNC and conventional machinery, such as lathes, grinders, drill presses, and wire EDM equipment.
• Collaborate with Tool Design Engineers to help ensure that all tooling designs are optimized for manufacturing success.
• Promote a productive work environment by assisting with the general organization and maintenance of the tool room.
• Support team development by training apprentices on blueprint interpretation and the use of precision measuring tools.
• Improve overall operational flow by debugging tooling quickly while upholding strict quality standards.

• Completion of high school or an equivalent educational program.
• Possession of a Journeyman Tool & Die Maker certification or a background with equivalent practical experience.
• Proven ability to troubleshoot and repair dies used in multi-slide or punch press manufacturing.
• Foundational proficiency in AutoCAD software.
• Basic computer literacy for daily tasks.
• Strong ability to read and understand technical blueprints.
• Comprehensive knowledge of standard toolroom machinery and manufacturing processes.
• Competency in the setup and operation of both CNC and conventional machine tools.
• Help maintain product quality by manufacturing and inspecting parts to meet tight tolerance requirements.
• Strong mechanical aptitude combined with a sharp eye for detail.
• Help foster a safe and efficient workplace by keeping your assigned area clean and well-organized.
• Expertise in the repair of molds, dies, and tools.
• Experience with the setup of molds, dies, and tools.
• Advanced capability in reading technical blueprints.
