We are currently hiring for an Associate VP, Development in Chicago! The Associate VP will serve as a player/coach within a team of four staff who lead all aspects of the Heart Ball campaign. This position will have direct responsibility in generating revenue by soliciting corporations for sponsor ships/partnerships and individual donations. The campaign includes our signature Heart Ball event. This role will provide direct coaching and supervision to two fundraising staff and one coordinator!

We offer a base salary with the potential to earn an incentive up to 25% of your base pay. The potential incentive is based on achieving certain revenue targets and triggers.

• Responsible for driving engagement and fundraising across Chicago with an impact of $5 million.
• Prospect and secure local corporate sponsor ships and individual donations.
• Guide and direct assigned staff to reach goals.
• Identify, recruit and manage executive volunteer leadership including implementing a year-round cultivation plan.
• Develop profiles on the top businesses within the Chicago market with a documented plan to secure their involvement.
• Implement event logistics based on national best practices.
• Work closely with a Communications Director to develop and manage a promotion/communications plan for the campaign.

• 3+ years of experience in fundraising or outside sales or in a non-profit organization in a similar capacity.
• 3+ year of experience in a management capacity. This experience may occur within the 3-year related experience requirement. Experience gained through direct internal work on American Heart Association projects/priorities may substitute for this requirement and will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
• University/College degree or equivalent experience.
• Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills, including large and small group presentations, group facilitation, and training. Skill in written communications to include clear and concise narrative reports, evaluations, and similar narrative pieces.
• Ability to read, comprehend and analyze number goals, as well as fundraising reports. Skill in use of spreadsheet/database analysis.
• Ability to do daily local travel up to 70%; requires access to reliable transportation at all times on an immediate basis.
• Ability to lift and/or move large objects (such as boxes) with the expectation that heavier items would be broken down into smaller components or requesting additional assistance may be required before lifting and/or moving.

Salary minimum to the midpoint of the range is $96,000 to $127,000 Pay is commensurate with experience; geographic differentials to the pay range may apply. The American Heart Association reserves the right to pay more or less than the posted range.
